Woodbury Lodge is located in heart of the Amakhala Game Reserve, a 8,500 hectare Big 5 malaria-free game reserve in the Eastern Cape and less than an hours drive from Port Elizabeth. Nestled discreetly against a cliff in lush riverine bush, the lodge offers spectacular views of the Bushman's River valley.
Enjoy morning and evening game drives in an open Land Rover, conducted by an experienced ranger in search of wildlife including lion, rhino, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, and over 16 antelope species. After dark, the elusive nocturnal animals are searched out with the help of a spotlight as you drive through the reserve.
As part of one game drive during your stay, you can also enjoy a relaxing river cruise down the Bushmans River (subject to river levels). Guided bush walks, night drives and horse trails are additional activities that can also be arranged during your stay here.
The dining area and lounge are perfectly positioned with expansive decks overlooking the plains, taking centre stage for unforgettable sunrises or evening drinks around the fire under the African stars.
In-between game drives relax at the lounge bar or around the swimming pool.
Designed with great care to blend in with the natural surroundings, the 5 stone-and-thatch chalets are comfortably appointed, with en-suite bathrooms, and each boasts a unique and breathtaking view from their wooden decks. The seclusion of each chalet, along with the design of the bathrooms and individual outdoor relaxation areas, enable guests to enjoy the unique setting and breath-taking views at leisure.
In addition, the 2 spacious family chalets sleep up to 4 guests allowing families to enjoy the African bush together. The rooms are separated by a wall partition to provide privacy
Spa treatments can be enjoyed at the nearby Bush Lodge, and guests can be transferred here on request.
