Long Lee Manor
Shamwari Game Reserve
Long Lee Manor, originally built in 1910, offers a distinctive colonial experience, and is a reminder of an era of gracious living. Overlooking the sweeping plains leading down to the Bushmans River, this splendidly restored Edwardian manor house in the 25,000 hectare malaria-free Shamwari Game Reserve offers guests refined comfort, congenial service and enticing cuisine in the African bush.
The Shamwari Reserve is home to the Big 5 as well as wild dog, cheetah, hyena, giraffe, hippo, zebra and numerous antelope species, and offers an unforgettable safari experience.
Game viewing is carried out morning and evening on game drives, when you are driven in your open vehicle over the rolling hills and valleys in search of the wildlife. The experienced rangers are all in 2-way communication with each other at all times, so on any day they know where the game is, and how to find the elusive animals such as the rare black rhino.
Shamwari has received numerous international awards, including the World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve.
The 15 elegant en-suite bedrooms and suites all have air-conditioning and underfloor heating.
Sumptuously prepared meals are enjoyed in the main dining room or around the open blazing fire at the Barn. A river lapa is another outdoor option for meals.
Between game drives guests can laze around one of the 2 pools or relax in the beautifully appointed garden lounge.

The whole experience at was excellent - our ranger, Westley, was fantastic and was a real highlight of the trip. The whole team there was also just great - we were impressed by the whole experience!
Shamwari deserves the 5 star rating! Superb accommodation, food and drink, attentive staff, knowledgeable ranger, excellent game drives with blankets, hot water bottles and beverages etc.
Long Lee was out of this world, excellent accommodation, food and staff willing to please.
Loved the location/Park, our ranger (George) and the service.
A fabulous experience and a great start to the holiday proper. They do a great job making the game drives truly memorable and the staff are all so very friendly and helpful. Our room suite was lovely and the setting superb overlooking a waterhole.
Fantastic place and suite. Great game drives and ranger Milo.
Shamwari Game Reserve: Long Lee Manor. The best! What an experience! Maybe 2 nights would have been enough as we had seen the Big 5 on our first 4 game drives. If we hadn't we would have wanted more but the last 2 drives were very much a repeat of the first 4 drives. Julius, our ranger, was fabulous.
An excellent experience with superb food and accommodation. The safari experience was 'second to none' from start to finish - I did not want it to end! You handled the booking with excellence (and we got a free upgrade to a suite!!). We cannot thank you, your staff and the staff at Long Lee Manor enough.
Shamwari absolutely wonderful as always.
The holiday was fantastic so thank you so much for organising. Shamwari - seriously do not think there is anything we could fault - the whole thing was fantastic and we were spoilt rotten - it was just lovely - highly recommend to anyone and worth every penny! La Petite Ferme - The accommodation was amazing - it was very private and therefore very nice for a couple who wanted to relax towards the end of the holiday. Thanks so much for pulling everything together we were really happy with Travel Butlers and the whole thing was so unstressful - a big thank you and I would definitely be happy to use your service again.
Long Lee Manor at Shamwari also hit the right note. The 'wow' factor for us were the drives and location. The accomodation was as expected. The organisation and service was very efficient.
I can only say a huge thank you, it met and generally exceeded all our expectations and the accommodation was simply perfect. Each stage had so much to offer but Shamwari was outstanding. Thank you again we will remember our trip for ever.
We got back Tuesday - everything was wonderful. We really enjoyed staying at Cape Grace Hotel ... the standard was exceptional - food, rooms, staff all fantastic. Shamwari was amazing - saw all the animals we expected to see ... our grandchildren were thrilled. So thank you for arranging everything for us - it went very smoothly.
