Suggested Holiday Itinerary
Summary Of The Route and Costs
A host of world-class destinations are yours to enjoy during this classic family holiday, with endless attractions to keep anyone of any age entertained and amused for days. Beaches, whales, wildlife - it's all jam packed into just 12 malaria-free nights.
Cape Town is made for families, and your self-catering accommodation at Waterfront Village gives you access to the vibrant V&A Waterfront area. Children will simply love the activities and excitement that the nearby Two Oceans Aquarium has to offer. Or head to Boulders Beach as you will have a hire car, which is home to a colony of penguins - wooden boardwalks take your right into the colony and you find yourself surrounded by these cute black and white birds.
You then head to the beach at Hermanus, where you can also get to see whales if you are there during July-October.
It's then off to the famous Garden Route. Perfectly set on a secluded country estate, near Knysna’s famous lagoon, Knysna Hollow welcomes families with warm and friendly hospitality. Activities are endless... from ferry trips across the lagoon, to walking trails through the ancient forests, treetop canopy tours, elephant and monkey sanctuaries, boat trips to see thousands of seals, ostrich farms, whale watching – or just relaxing at one of the sparkling swimming pools set in lush indigenous gardens with abundant birdlife.
Finally, your trip ends with a safari in the malaria-free Big 5 Kariega Game Reserve. Experience close up viewing of lion, elephant, rhino, elephant and buffalo as well as multitudes of other wildlife on daily morning and afternoon guided game drives with an experienced ranger. Inbetween the safari game drives, enjoy a dip in the refreshing swimming pool or take one the canoes for a leisurely paddle down either the Kariega or the Bushmans rivers and watch in blissful silence as the river birds and animals go about their daily business.
Younger children will enjoy the Playroom, with its range of fun DVDs, books, toys and puzzles, and table tennis.
All children can also join in the fun of the Kids Programme. Available everyday from 11:00 until 14:00, the children are looked after by a dedicated 'kiddies co-ordinator' and receive a 'Kids on Safari' goodie bag. Go on an eco trail and search out insects and animal tracks, make moulds of the tracks using Plaster of Paris to take home at the end of the safari, learn to shoot a traditional 'kettie' - a safe Y shaped slingshot, and be creative and make a Bushman painting.
