Primate Lodge in Kibale is an exclusive eco-lodge situated in the heart of Kibale Forest National Park. It is surrounded by a lush tropical forest that is home to 13 different species of primates, including the chimpanzees.
Privately secluded in the rainforest, this safari lodge offers you a truly authentic jungle experience and is the perfect gateway for tracking the primates in Uganda.
Wake up with the sounds of the forest, enjoy a delicious breakfast and prepare yourself for an exciting meeting with the chimpanzees. Enjoy a guided primate walk in the lush expenses of the tropical rainforest, in search of the wild chimpanzees. The ranger guide will explain you more about the animals and plants species that you encounter on your way. Also look out for other primates like the red colobus monkeys and mangabey, birds, tracks of mammals and much more.
Primate Lodge Kibale has 9 luxury cottages. All rooms are privately situated within the forest, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you. There is also a Honeymoon Cottage, which is double storied with an upstairs bedroom which extends out over a large, elevated thatched wooden deck/veranda which too seems to extend right into the forest canopy.
For our adventurous at heart, the secluded Sky Tree House is set about 200m deep in the forest. Hanging upon a gigantic celtis tree and elevated 10m above the ground, the tree house overlooks an elephant meadow with excellent views over the forest canopy where you can regularly see monkeys, chimps and even forest elephants sometimes.
Being situated in the protected area of Kibale National Park, Primate Lodge is highly committed to the conservation of nature and culture. The lodge is constructed with local materials and makes use of solar powered electricity in order to minimize the impact on the environment. Moreover, the accommodation contributes to the livelihood of the surrounding communities by involving the local families in different service areas, ranging from employment and the supply of locally grown products to providing handmade crafts and cultural performances.
