Adjoining the Greater Kruger National Park, within the famous 14,500 hectare Thornybush Game Reserve, is the award winning Monwana Game Lodge. This elegant lodge is the ideal getaway for honeymooners, couples and families wanting to experience 4* accommodation, gourmet cuisine and the ultimate in Big Five game viewing. 

During the day, guests can enjoy the deck at one of the 2 central living areas which overlooks the banks of the dry Monwana River bed.

Monwana Game Lodge also boasts an outdoor swimming pool just a minutes' walk from all suites. Guests can soak up the delicate sounds of birds chirping and cicadas singing under the African sun on comfortable pool loungers inbetween game drives.

The boma offers a 3 course table d'hote dinner or braai accompanied by a choice of superb Cape wines to be enjoyed under the African night sky. For high tea and ultimate relaxing the Gazebo, an open air thatched lounge, is a prime spot overlooking the watering hole.

Monwana Game Lodge is designed with Africa in mind, from draped bed posts to wraparound wooden verandas.

There are 5 suites in total - 1 Family Monwana Suite, 3 luxury Kingsize Suites and 1 elegant Honeymoon Suite, each with its own private deck or patio overlooking rugged bushveld or the peaceful Monwana watering hole. All individual suites boast full en-suite bathrooms with both bath and shower facilities. Sweeping panoramic views over the untamed bushveld and ever active waterholes can be viewed from the large glass windows.

Rates Include

Dawn and dusk shared safari game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles; bushveld walks; all meals, tea/coffee and snacks; the Thornybush Conservation fee; and the Tourism bed levy are included.

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request.

Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on guided walks in the reserve. 



General Information For Guests

All rooms have air- conditioning, a terrace/balcony, a room safe, a hair dryer, and tea/coffee making facilities.

A laundry service is available at an additional cost.

The water is perfectly safe to drink. It has been purified but there is always bottled water available.

All credit cards are accepted EXCEPT American Express and Diners Club.

Wi-Fi is available at the lodge at an additional fee.

If you are arriving/departing via FedAir, the lodge is a 15 minute drive away from the airstrip.
