Kuname Lodge is a small, friendly safari lodge set in 9,000 hectares of African bush, in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. The reserve is only 45 minutes drive from the world-famous Kruger National Park.
Bordered by the towering Drakensberg escarpment on the west and set in game-rich, lush riverine vegetation, the lodge offers a variety of breathtaking views, diverse landscapes and some wonderful Big 5 game viewing opportunities.
Each morning before the fiery sunrise paints the sky and every evening before the sun sets, an experienced and highly-qualified field guide and tracker takes guests on unhurried game drives in open game vehicles to seek out and get close to the Big 5 and the dozens of other animal species found on the reserve.
The accommodation consists of 4 comfortable Luxury Suites and one Premier Honeymoon Suite, nestled in dense bush overlooking the majestic Drakensberg escarpment. The air-conditioned suites are all decorated in an elegant African style. The en-suite bathrooms include an outdoor shower as well as an outdoor bath. Each suite also has a private wooden deck.
The Manor House is ideal for small groups. It is a beautiful 3 bedroom property situated on the banks of the Kuvenyami River, just a short walk from the main lodge area. Two of the en-suite bedrooms are downstairs and there is a loft room with 2 single beds. The House has a private plunge pool and its own boma.

Rates Include
All meals; tea/coffee; snacks; the Karongwe Reserve fees; dawn and dusk safaris; drinks on dusk safaris (limited to one per person with a choice of local beer, wine or soft drink); are included. PLEASE NOTE: The Tourism Levy is not included and will be added to your room to settle upon departure (currently R14 per person per night, subject to change).
Children Policy
Children aged 12 years and older are welcome at the main lodge but must take their own room. Children of any age are welcome at the Manor House but children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives - babysitting services are available at an additional cost and subject to availability of a staff member.
Bush Walks / Walking Safaris
Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on bush walks.

Directions For Drivers
From Johannesburg: Take the N4 motorway towards Mbombela (Nelspruit), passing eMalahleni (Witbank) and Middleburg. Turn left into eMakhazeni (Belfast). Once in eMakhazeni, follow the signs and turn right towards Dullstroom, passing through Mashishing (Lydenburg). Continue on the R36 to Ohrigstad and the JG Strydom Tunnel. Approximatly 10 km after the tunnel, turn left onto the R36 towards Tzaneen. The Karongwe Game Reserve is situated on your right.
From Hoedspruit: Head south on Argyle Road (650m), then turn left toward R527 (100m) Turn right toward R527 (140m), turn right onto R527 (31.1 km) and then turn right onto R36 (23.1 km).
General Information For Guests
All suites are equipped with a minibar (stocked on request with drinks of your choice), tea/coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, safe, and air conditioning. All rooms have inside and outside showers. International adaptors are available in the drawers of the dressing table and there is a shaving plug in the bathroom.
The Manor House includes 2 en-suite bedrooms downstairs, and a loft room with 2 single beds - the loft room is NOT en-suite. The bathrooms each have an indoor shower and bath. There is also a private pool and boma area.
The facilities at Kuname include a communal dining area, bar, swimming pool, library, a spa, secure parking and 24 hour security.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the main lodge area. There is no mobile phone reception.
There is a spa at another lodge on the reserve, which offers a range of different treatments (additional cost and guests are transferred on request inbetween game drives to and from the spa, depending on the treatment time).
Private cellar dinners can be arranged (subject to availability).
A same day laundry service is available (weather permitting) at an additional cost.
Bush walks can be arranged after breakfast (additional cost).
