Klaserie Game Reserve

Simbavati Camp George offers an oasis of tranquillity within the wilds of the Klaserie Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park. It is a classic safari escape, set alongside a dry riverbed and is the perfect mix of authentic tradition with a modern twist. The convivial and art-filled living areas lead out to expansive terraces. Beyond lies the mature indigenous garden which naturally evoke a sense of tranquillity and relaxation. Enjoy the serenity of the many huge fever and baobab trees, read a book in the swing chair, or watch the game at the waterhole where animals come to drink through the day.
There are myriad of other ways to relax at Camp George too - lounge around the expansive swimming pool, enjoy a soothing massage at the safari spa or on your private deck, or indulge in a garden picnic under the beautiful, almost luminous fever trees.
Game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon when the animals are naturally most active. Your guide may be a keen photographer and will be conscious and considerate if your mission is to capture sightings on camera. Your mode of transport is an open-sided 4x4 game vehicle with 3 rows of comfortable bucket seats in tiers. You generally head out with a maximum of 8 guests. This offers safe, yet close wildlife encounters. Guests sit up high for the best 'spotting' of birds and animals. There are no sides to inhibit your views and you naturally feel more in tune with nature. In the summer month, a shade top is added to protect against the African sun, but in winter it is open to the skies for the best bird-viewing and for stargazing.
This intimate lodge comprises 8 luxury suites, each with its own private deck overlooking the dry riverbed.
Each suite has a beautiful and unique wall mural which adds a stunning touch of style to the room, and is elegantly furnished with beautiful indigenous wood furniture. There’s a large and indulgent bathroom a deep soaking tub, indoor and outdoor shower and separate toilet.
Two inter-leading units are available for families or friends travelling together.
Several times a week, dinner in the camps is a more hearty, campfire style meal served under the stars in a boma, a circular enclosure originally made from branches. The cosy, lantern-lit ambience recalls the early days of safari pioneers and the gentle flicker of lanterns, candle-light and a welcoming open fire truly conjures up what is magical about a safari.

Directions For Drivers
From Hoedspruit Airport: As you exit the airport, turn left onto Argyle Road. Drive through the Guernsey Access Control Gate. Continue straight for approximately 13 km until you reach the Enkhulu control gate of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Please note that continuous cell/mobile phone reception ends here.
At this gate tell security you are going to Simbavati Amani in the Klaserie. You DO NOT pay an entrance fee at this gate. Immediately after the gate, there’s a cattle grid in front you. Do not cross this grid. Instead turn immediately left before the grid and follow the road as it doubles back on itself and then curves to the right to head to the Klaserie main gate (Incheni Gate). This takes about 10 to 15 minutes to drive.
At the gate, you will be required to pay an entrance fee in cash. This gate is open from 06:00 until 18:00. The lodge would have at this stage sent a QR code to the gate for your entry (SA ID/passport information is required for your QR code).
Go through the gate and continue straight on the main road for quite some distance (approximately 20 minutes) until you reach a big cell/radio tower. At the cell tower you will find a sign on a stone plinth on your left saying Northumberland/Fife/Klaseriemond/Durham/Dundee East. Turn right.
Follow the powerline on your left for approx 3.2 km. Where the powerline heads away from the road, you will find a sign on your rights saying Simbavati Amani /Camp George Turn left here.
Continue until the next sign (on a stone plinth) and turn right here. At the next stone plinth/sign, continue straight on for Camp George. At the triangle, keep right. The fork will fork again and you keep left. At the next fork, keep right. This will take you to Camp George down the hill.
Aim to arrive by 14.30 if possible so that you have ample time to settle in before the game drive. If you are going to be late due to unforeseen circumstances, please let the lodge know on +27 (0) 15 004 1400
Note: Please do NOT rely on your GPS after Hoedspruit. It will lead you onto the incorrect roads where you could get loss and stuck!
