Kafue National Park

Nanzhila Location Map

Nanzhila Plains and Nanzhila Lake Camp are both located in the southern section of Kafue National Park. Both camps are accessible via road from both Livingstone and Lusaka, or by air.

On daily game drives, visitors have the opportunity to seek out 4 of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo), plus you also stand a chance of seeing other special wildlife species such as antelope, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, zebra and warthog.  Big cat sightings are consistent from both camps.

Nanzhila Plains is nestled on the fringes of a vast dambo (seasonal floodplain) and has 5 en-suite chalets all strategically positioned along the treeline to offer unobstructed views of the dambo. Perched on an elevated teak deck, the camp features a spacious thatched lounge and dining area where the ambiance is enriched by the sounds of wildlife. Guests may hear antelopes grazing nearby or the rustling of branches as elephants feed in close proximity.

The focus of Nanzhila Lake Camp is exploring the Southern Kafue wildlife that is found around Lake Itezhi-tezhi and the open floodplains and shorelines around the edges of Lake Itezhi-tezhi make for a stunning wildlife experience, with the the mega herbivores like elephant, buffalo and hippo making frequent appearances.

The tented chalets at Lake Camp are all situated along the tree line, giving guests an unobstructed view of the floodplain and shoreline ahead which has a constant flow of wildlife. Comfortable beds with mosquito nets are complimented by a large en-suite bathroom and vanity area and expansive covered verandah for midday game viewing.
