Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

Mthwazi Lodge Location Map

Mthwazi Lodge is close to the renowned Hilltop Camp in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, and boasts a magnificent setting under a large sycamore fig within its own secluded bushveld garden.

This 8 bedded lodge features memorabilia from the rich history of the reserve.

The Park itself is Africa's oldest and lies in the heart of the Zulu Kingdom, about 280 km from Durban, where ancient trails lead through the thornveld and along the mighty rivers of what was once the exclusive hunting ground of King Shaka. Here close encounters with wildlife on foot or in a vehicle are the order of the day.

There have been over 300 bird species recorded in the Reserve, and cheetah, wild dog, the Big 5 and many species of antelope and other plains game including giraffe and zebra also inhabit the Park,

Mthwazi is a self-catering facility which is serviced once a day. The services of a cook are provided. Visitors also have the option of eating in the camp restaurant.

The accommodation comprises 3 bedrooms each with its own private bathroom and an annex bedroom with its own shower and toilet. A sumptuous lounge and dining area lead out onto a large flagstone veranda, and from there into a magnificent tropical garden shaded by a gloriously spreading tree.
