Set in perfumed gardens with mountain views, Le Quartier Francais (the French Quarter) is a 32 room romantic boutique hotel situated in the village of Franschhoek, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. The emphasis is on ultimate luxury and charm, combined with the priceless gift of privacy, tucked away in the centre of the village.

The sunny Garden Room is a beautiful, inviting space that opens up onto a manicured courtyard through wide glass doors. The renowned breakfast buffet is on offer from 07:00 to 11:00, so there’s no need to rush out of bed for fear that you’ll miss it! The breakfast buffet offers home-made granola and pastries, plenty of seasonal fruit, freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, and infused teas.

The Bar at LQF is a trendy, sociable space with a wood-burning fireplace. Outside seating creates the perfect spot to relax over a drink and watch the activity on the main street. Savour signature craft gin cocktails or create your own G&T from the menu of delicious ingredients. There’s also a selection of classic cocktails, some with a unique contemporary twist, as well as delicious non-alcoholic versions.

The sophisticated suites and rooms are located in peaceful scented gardens and feature the ultimate in luxury fittings, fabrics and finishes, complemented by artworks by local artists. There are 11 en-suite Auberge Rooms, 3 Grande Rooms, 5 Petite Garden Suites, along with 1 Pool Suite and 1 House Suite, which have their own private walled garden and secluded pool make them perfect for honeymooners.

There are also 4 state-of-the-art suites, The Four Quarters,  and either a 3 or 4 bedroomed LQF Villas, each with their own private pool and full kitchen. The Villas are close to the bustling main street and provide a home away from home from which to explore the village and its many attractions.

Directions For Drivers

From Cape Town (via N1): Drive out of Cape Town on the N1 past Belville and Brackenfell turn-offs. Continue past the Winelands 1-Stop Engen petrol station as well as the first Stellenbosch turn-off after the petrol station. Take the next turn-off named Stellenbosch/Klapmuts and turn right at the stop on the R44.

Approximately 600m further, go over the 4-way stop. Shortly after the 4 way stop (+/-400m) turn left at the Franschhoek sign. Carry along this road for approximately 8 km until it ends at a T-junction at which you turn right to Franschhoek on the R45. This road will take you straight into Franschhoek (approximately 16 km further).

Continue down the main street of Franschhoek, and Le Quartier Francais restaurant is on your right-hand side at the corner of Huguenot Road and Berg Street. Turn right into Berg Street and then right again into Wilhelmina Street, and the entrance to Le Quartier Francais is on your right hand side.

From Cape Town (via N2): Drive out of Cape Town on the N2, and take the first Stellenbosch turn-off (Baden Powell Drive/R310) and keep on travelling to Stellenbosch. You will eventually pass the Spier Wine Estate (on your right) and a few kilometres after that, the road will end at a T-junction (approximately 13 km from the N2 turn-off).

Turn right at the T-junction and travel into Stellenbosch. You will pass over 3 traffic lights - keep to your left. The road ends at a T-junction at which you turn left. Pass over 3 traffic lights and shortly after the 3rd set, turn right at a set of lights at the Franschhoek/Idas Valley sign.

This road will take you over the mountain on the Helshoogte Pass, trough Johannesdal and through Pniel and eventually ends at a T-junction (16 km from Stellenbosch). This T-junction is shortly after the Boschendal Wine Estate (which would have been on your right). Turn right at the T-junction onto the R45 to Franschhoek. This road will take you straight into Franschhoek (approximately 13 km further).

Continue down the main street of Franschhoek, and Le Quartier Francais restaurant is on your right-hand side at the corner of Huguenot Road and Berg Street. Turn right into Berg Street and then right again into Wilhelmina Street, and the entrance to Le Quartier Francais is on your right hand side.

From Hermanus/The Garden Route: Either follow the N2 to the Baden Powell Drive/R310 exit, and follow the directions as above OR you can take the more scenic route via the Franschhoek Pass - leave the N2 at the R43 towards Villiersdorp (16 km past Caledon) and follow this road to Villiersdorp. Turn left onto the R45, and after approximately 8 km turn right to stay on the R45 and go over the Franschhoek Pass to Franschhoek. Turn right into the Main road (R45) at the Monument. Le Quartier Francais restaurant is on your left-hand side at the corner of Huguenot Road and Berg Street.

Turn left into Berg Street and then right  into Wilhelmina Street, and the entrance to Le Quartier Francais is on your right hand side.



General Information For Guests

All rooms have air conditioning, a hair dryer, mini bar, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, electronic safe, Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities, a woodburning fireplace, complimentary Wi-Fi, and satellite/cable TV.

A laundry service is available (additional cost) as are babysitting services (also additional cost).

The main property has a swimming pool, secure parking, complimentary internet access, and a library.

Protégé is a casual-style eatery at Le Quartier Français and features stylish cuisine created by a series of talented young chefs. With a mixture of Asian, French and Italian influences guests can choose to dine al fresco or watch the chefs at work in the central show kitchen.

Leeu Spa is a wellness sanctuary that offers authentic massages and holistic treatments by expert therapists. A range of treatments for children (aged 6-12) are also offered.

Each guest receives a signature tasting of Mullineux and Leeu Family wines at Leeu Estates (one tasting per guest per stay).

Breakfasts are served in The Garden Room between 07:00 and 11:00.

It is advisable to pre-book dinner reservations in Franschhoek, especially between October and April.
