Kruger National Park

Camp Shawu Location Map

Camp Shawu is a small intimate bush retreat situated on a 15,000 hectare private concession in the south-eastern section of the world-renowned Kruger National Park.

The location of the lodge offers guests an opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer.

Guests can view the big game from open vehicles, coming close to the 'Big 5' - elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard - as well as wild dog and cheetah.

Some of the drives will be on the lodge's own concession, where your guide will have the opportunity to drive offroad to get you unbelievably close to the wildlife, but others may be in the Kruger Park itself, where your ranger will be restricted to remaining on the road network at all times.

With over 300 bird species, the reserve is also a birdwatcher's paradise.

The walking trails in and around the camp are guided by an experienced game ranger with an extensive knowledge of the Greater Kruger Park area, wildlife, birds and of course the indigenous vegetation.

With authentic buffalo dung walls, Camp Shawu paints a picture of the 'real Africa' described by famous explorers of colonial times.

The Camp can accommodate 10 guests in 5 very large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam. All are luxuriously equipped with romantic ball and claw bath, mini bar, sitting area facing open fireplace, ceiling fans and outside shower.

A large verandah with reclining chairs and umbrella is the perfect spot from which to watch the game come down to drink.
