Biyela Lodge is situated in the uMfolozi Big Five Reserve, a a 6,000 hectare private concession that is an extension of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. Tiered on a descending cliff overlooking an oxbow lagoon in the White iMfolozi River, Biyela Lodge is the essence of luxury in the African wild. This is a wild landscape populated by elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and the endangered wild dog. There are over 600 bird species in the area, and sitting from your private deck you can spot a variety of them weaving about the indigenous thickets.
The lodge has been decorated and designed in a chic and contemporary style and there is a central area that features a rim flow swimming pool, restaurant and bar as well as a viewing deck to take in the ambience of the natural surroundings.

Directions For Drivers
From King Shaka International Airport via N2: Exit King Shaka International Airport and turn left onto Ldlot Street. Travel for 2.3 km and merge onto the N2, heading north. Travel for 126 km and then take the 327 exit onto the R34 towards Empangeni. Travel through Empangeni on the R34 for approximately 23.3 km, and drive past the first Thula Thula sign. Continue straight until you see signs for uMfolozi, and keep following this signage to uMfolzoi. The Umfolozi Big Five Game Reserve entrance will be on your right. Upon arrival, sign in at the gate and leave your vehicle at the secure parking area. You will then be transferred by game viewer to the lodge.
The Biyela Gate closes at 18:00. If you are flying into Durban, please ensure that you have catered for enough travel time after your flight as the drive to uMfolozi takes 3 hours.
Please drive with caution. The road to uMfolozi is uneven. It is recommended that you only travel by 4×4 vehicle if driving yourself. Please also be conscious of wildlife on the road at all times.
