Porini Amboseli Camp

Amboseli National Park

Days 1 - 3: Amboseli National Park

Porini Amboseli Camp Location Map

Porini Amboseli Safari Camp is located within the exclusive 15,000 acre Selenkay Conservancy, which is 10 miles north of the Amboseli National Park.

Activities include game drives in specially designed open-sided 4x4 Land Rovers, both on the Conservancy and in the Amboseli National Park. Bush walks and night drives can also be enjoyed on the Conservancy. The stunning Mount Kilimanjaro can be viewed on a clear day, making a beautiful backdrop to any photograph.

Guests have the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, striped hyena, jackal, African wild cat, porcupine, Thompson's and Grant's gazelles, gerenuk, impala, oryx, eland, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog, and vervet monkeys. Birdlife is prolific, especially birds of prey.

Other activities include walks to the local Maasai village, and for guests staying 3 nights, there is also the opportunity to do a full day bush walk, and camp out under the stars in a 2 man dome tent for a really unique safari experience.

Accommodation is in 10 spacious en-suite tents, including one family tent, set amongst shady acacia tortilis trees. All tents are comfortably furnished and have solar power electric lighting with en-suite bathrooms including hot 'bucket' showers, wash basin and flush toilets. The family tent consists of 2 tents connected together by a private lounge area in between. There are no permanent structures like a bar or restaurant or swimming pool - this is real camping in the African bush, but in comfort!

Meals are taken under the shade of an acacia tree and after dinner guests can sit around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the African night. The camp is staffed almost entirely by members of the local Maasai community.

Porini Lion Camp Location Map

Porini Lion Safari Camp is located in the exclusive 33 000 acre Olare Motogori Conservancy. This expansive conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara National Reserve, is home to an abundance of animals including the Mara's renowned big cats. The local Maasai community members own the conservancy and the majority of the camp staff are from the surrounding communities.

Daily activities include morning game drives in open-sided Land Rover 4 wheel drive safari vehicles, on both the conservancy and in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Night game drives on the Conservancy can also be enjoyed, giving guests the opportunity to see many of the elusive nocturnal animals. During July through to September, the camp is an ideal base from which to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration and there is also the opportunity to enjoy a hot air balloon safari (at an additional cost) to view the wildlife from a completely different perspective.

Guests can also go on escorted bush walks in the conservancy with Maasai warriors and a safari guide, and learn more about the flora, fauna and people of the surrounding areas.

The camp is very environmentally-friendly, with solar powered lighting and no permanent structures. This is a true 'camping in the African' bush experience - but in comfort!

The 10 guest tents, including one family tent, are very spacious and have private verandahs along the length of the tent, providing a secluded 'space' to relax and enjoy the beauty of this African wilderness. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and a hot 'bucket' shower. The family tent consists of 2 tents connected together by a private lounge area.
