Zambia Holiday and Lake Malawi

Summary Of The Route and Costs

This 10 night itinerary will make you the best parents ever - as you are giving your teenagers the chance to do a bungee jump, canoe alongside crocodiles, elephants and maybe even lion, head out on game drives to search out leopard and cheetah, and go snorkelling or scuba dive, wake boarding, water skiing or even tubing.  In return for such a marvellous holiday, you can ask them to keep their room tidy for the rest of the year!

You begin this epic holiday with 2 nights at the iconic Victoria Falls. With so many activities on offer here, you won't be stuck for anything to do. The Avani Victoria Falls Resort is located in the Mosai-Oa-Tunya National Park, so it is usual to see zebra grazing on the grass lawns, or monkeys cavorting in the tree branches. A 5 minute walk gets you to the Falls themselves, and you can visit as many times as you wish, as guests of Avani have unlimited free access. As well as viewing the Falls, you can also take a microflight or helicopter ride over the Falls, or bungee jump from the Victoria Falls Bridge, go white water rafting or jet boating. Or just relax around the resort's swimming pool and do nothing - it is your holiday too, after all!

You then fly to the Lower Zambezi National Park for 2 nights. Chongwe River Camp's impressive variety of safari activities provides the ultimate exploration of this magnificent African paradise. By land, you can enjoy game drives and walking safaris (12+ years and over), or take to the rivers and explore with boat cruises, canoeing safaris and fishing. Back in camp the wildlife hide is great for photography, especially rare nocturnal creatures. This is one of the most beautiful regions in Africa, with rivers winding through the forested valley creating a haven for wildlife and birdlife. Lions, wild dog, elephants and hippos abound - to name just a few!

Then it is off to the South Luangwa National Park for 2 more nights of safari adventure. Morning game drives set off in open vehicles so that guests have an all round view of the birds, trees, wildlife and beauty of the Park. Afternoon drives head off afternoon tea has been served, and your safari guide will aim to stop at a scenic spot just before sundown, so you can enjoy an infamous African Sundowner! Once the sun has set, you will continue on with a spotlight, operated by your spotter, who looks for interesting nocturnal creatures that you are unlikely to see during daylight hours. There is a chance to see nocturnal birds like night-jars, owls and bathawks as well as nocturnal mammals such as honeybadgers, civet, genet, porcupine, leopard and hyena.

Finally, it is off to Lake Malawi for the last 4 nights of this amazing family holiday. Blue Island Zebra Lodge is situated on an island in the lake, and is the perfect getaway for families looking for a combination of adventure and relaxation. Activities include nature trails, birding, kayaking, snorkelling, wake boarding, water skiing, tubing, sunset cruises, seasonal scuba diving, or just relaxing at the infinity pool and cocktail bar or chilling out on the hammocks.
