This 10 night itinerary is ideal if you are a bit short on time, but still want to give your teens a safari and beach holiday to remember for years to come.
Begin your holiday of a lifetime by flying into the Madikwe Game Reserve. As you approach the reserve ready to land, you will get your first glimpse from above of Madikwe's amazing wildlife. The Big 5 is represented in the Park and you are likely to spot a lion, leopard, elephant, rhino or buffalo during your stay. During your visit you may also have the rare privilege of seeing the highly endangered African Wild Dog. The Park is home to over 66 species of large mammals and roughly 340 bird species.
You will stay at the 2 bedroomed Owner's House at Morukuru - where each day on safari is exactly yours to do as you please. As the house is only for your family, and there are no other guests about, you can totally treat this as a 'home from home' - but with the added luxury of a team of 8-10 staff on hand to make sure your stay is absolutely memorable. Head out on daily game drives at a time to suit everyone, and track Madikwe's animals. As the only guests on the vehicle, game drives are tailored totally to your preferences.
Inbetween drives, try your hand at fishing in the Marico River, or enjoy a spa treatment in the sala area with the sounds of nature to compliment the experience.
For the daring and for a family adventure never to be forgotten, sleep out in the nearby hide, surrounded by the African wilderness. For those less daring an evening stop at the hide during game drive is a sublime spot to look up at the sparkling night sky and star gaze.
After one night back in Johannesburg, at the Emperors Palace Resort which has restaurants to suit even the most picky of teenage tastebuds, you fly to a Mozambique island for 5 nights on the beach. Parents can lose themselves in peaceful island life around the pool, teenagers can revel in the huge host of watersports and land activities on offer here. The fun starts as soon as you get to the boat transfer, as you need to wade through knee-deep water to get on board.
Arrive into Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport. Go through Immigration, collect your luggage and clear Customs, then make your way into the Arrivals Hall, where you will be met by a representative from FedAir. You will then be transferred to the private FedAir departure lounge, where you can relax before boarding your flight across to the Madikwe Game Reserve. The lounge serves a selection of complimentary hot beverages and cold soft drinks, as well as sandwiches, fruit and other snacks. Please note that there is a baggage restriction of 20 kg per person, and you have to have a 'soft' bag (for easy storage in the plane).
FedAir 103 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Johannesburg OR Tambo (JNB) departing at 10:00 to Madikwe Airstrip, arriving at 11:00
You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Morukuru Owner's House - the perfect family haven. Completely private and exclusive, this home oozes an ambience of comfort, luxury and space. A true escape is one when you don't have to lift a finger and with the wonderful Morukuru team at your beck and call, you have the freedom to create your very own magical Morukuru experience. Hop onto your private vehicle at a timing of your choosing and head out for the ultimate safari adventure.
After you return from your morning game drive, you will have time to enjoy breakfast before you need to depart for the drive back to Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport, where you will be dropped at Peermont D'oreale Grande Hotel for an overnight stay.
Closely situated to OR Tambo International Airport, luxury and regal comfort await guests at the 5* Peermont D'oreale Grande Hotel at Emperors Palace. The magnificent ambiance is complimented with state-of-the-art facilities which provide guests with added comfort. Full access to the casino, dining and entertainment facilities at the resort is granted to all guests.

A short 15 minute drive in an air-conditioned vehicle from the airport takes you to the landing point on the beach, where you take a boat transfer to the island. Please be advised that there is no jetty, so guests are required to wade through knee-deep water to get to the boat. The boat transfer takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to reach the island, depending on the tides.
