If you only have a week to spare, why not spend the 7 nights in true style?
You begin with a flight from Nairobi to the Tsavo National Park. Most people tend to forget about Tsavo and why it is amongst the top pick of many experienced safari guides. Being Kenya's largest game park and with so few lodges in the area, you will soon understand why. The Park is home to Africa’s Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino - as well as zebra, giraffe, antelope, spotted and striped hyena, baboons, a large population of hippo and many crocodiles. It also boasts over 500 species of birds as well, making Tsavo a real birders paradise. You stay for 3 nights at Finch Hattons, a camp built to be minimally intrusive, whilst still combining the modern day luxuries of any 5* boutique hotel.
You then fly back to Nairobi and connect seamlessly with your flight onto the Masai Mara. You will stay for 4 nights at Sir Richard Branson's very own Kenyan safari hideaway - the 5* Mahali Mzuri. You can expect exciting game drives with experienced guides, delicious meals, a cosy and relaxing atmosphere and a uniquely designed, spacious and luxurious tent. Game drives are in top of the range open 4x4 Land Cruiser vehicles seating a maximum of 6 guests.
Whilst staying at Mahali Mzuri you're also welcome to visit one of the Maasai villages in the local area to get a flavour for daily life in the Mara. The village is only 10 minutes drive from Mahali Mzuri and the best times to go are first thing in the morning when you can help milk the cattle or in the evening when the cattle, goats and sheep are being herded back to their enclosures for the night. The local school is a further 5 minute drive from the village.
You will be met once you disembark from the plane and assisted through Immigration (including help if required with visa application and processing), luggage collection and Customs (luggage screening).
You will then be accompanied to meet up with your driver/Customer Services representative and transferred to Wilson Airport where you will check in for your flight to the Tsavo West National Park.
Safarilink 015 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Wilson Airport (WIL) departing at 14:00 to Tsavo West Airstrip, arriving at 14:50
You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to your camp. Set in 35 acres in the heart of Tsavo West National Park, a stay at Finch Hattons Luxury Tented Camp offers the chance to experience the thrill of a true African safari and discover the safari of a bygone era. With just 17 tented suites, surrounding the hippo pools fed by the fresh water springs of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, the camp is the ideal combination of adventure and intimacy. Whilst the best game viewing is generally in the coolness of the early mornings or late afternoons, you are free to decide how long and when you would like to set out for your game drive. Using only open-sided vehicles, you can experience the African landscape and the wide range of birds and wildlife that thrive in the surrounding area. In addition, night drives offer another adventure as you explore the vastness of the Park by moonlight and experience the night sounds of the bush.
After an early breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip where you will board your flight back to Nairobi.
Safarilink 14 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Tsavo West Airstrip departing at 08:30 to Wilson Airport (WIL), arriving at 09:50
You will be met and assisted with the connection to your flight to the Masai Mara.
Safarilink 001 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Wilson Airport (WIL) departing at 10:00 to Masai Mara Airstrip, arriving at 11:00
You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to your safari camp. The most awe-inspiring of landscapes in this pristine part of Africa is the setting for Mahali Mzuri, Sir Richard Branson's tented camp. Mahali Mzuri is located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and there are 13,500 hectares of bush to explore, set against the backdrop of a valley and sprawling plains as far as the eye can see. This is the place to be for a front row view of the abundant game in the area. The camp is also in the path of the world-famous annual Great Migration from end July through to October.
After breakfast you will be transferred back to the airstrip where you will board your flight back to Nairobi.
Safarilink 002 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Masai Mara Airstrip departing at 11:00 to Wilson Airport (WIL), arriving at 12:20
You will be met and transferred to the nearby Ole Sereni Hotel where you will have the use of a day room for the afternoon. With the stunning greens and golds of Nairobi National Park's landscape punctuated by giraffe, zebra, antelope and buffalo lounging near the waterhole, the views alone make Ole Sereni one-of-a-kind. Add to that the convenience of the location between Nairobi's Wilson and Jomo Kenyatta International airports, as well as the hotel's world-class restaurants and spa, and you get a hotel that perfectly complements your experience of East Africa.
This evening you will be collected from the hotel and transferred back to Jomo Kenyatta Airport, arriving in time to check in for your international flight home.
