A Kenyan Safari in True Style

Summary Of The Route and Costs

If you only have a week to spare, why not spend the 7 nights in true style?

You begin with a flight from Nairobi to the Tsavo National Park. Most people tend to forget about Tsavo and why it is amongst the top pick of many experienced safari guides. Being Kenya's largest game park and with so few lodges in the area, you will soon understand why. The Park is home to Africa’s Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino - as well as zebra, giraffe, antelope, spotted and striped hyena, baboons, a large population of hippo and many crocodiles. It also boasts over 500 species of birds as well, making Tsavo a real birders paradise. You stay for 3 nights at Finch Hattons, a camp built to be minimally intrusive, whilst still combining the modern day luxuries of any 5* boutique hotel.

You then fly back to Nairobi and connect seamlessly with your flight onto the Masai Mara.  You will stay for 4 nights at Sir Richard Branson's very own Kenyan safari hideaway - the 5* Mahali Mzuri. You can expect exciting game drives with experienced guides, delicious meals, a cosy and relaxing atmosphere and a uniquely designed, spacious and luxurious tent. Game drives are in top of the range open 4x4 Land Cruiser vehicles seating a maximum of 6 guests.

Whilst staying at Mahali Mzuri you're also welcome to visit one of the Maasai villages in the local area to get a flavour for daily life in the Mara. The village is only 10 minutes drive from Mahali Mzuri and the best times to go are first thing in the morning when you can help milk the cattle or in the evening when the cattle, goats and sheep are being herded back to their enclosures for the night. The local school is a further 5 minute drive from the village.

You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to your camp. Set in 35 acres in the heart of Tsavo West National Park, a stay at Finch Hattons Luxury Tented Camp offers the chance to experience the thrill of a true African safari and discover the safari of a bygone era. With just 17 tented suites, surrounding the hippo pools fed by the fresh water springs of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, the camp is the ideal combination of adventure and intimacy. Whilst the best game viewing is generally in the coolness of the early mornings or late afternoons, you are free to decide how long and when you would like to set out for your game drive. Using only open-sided vehicles, you can experience the African landscape and the wide range of birds and wildlife that thrive in the surrounding area. In addition, night drives offer another adventure as you explore the vastness of the Park by moonlight and experience the night sounds of the bush.
