From Cape Town Into the Wilderness

Summary Of The Route and Costs

Having begun your holiday with 4 nights in Cape Town, staying in a distinguished boutique hotel which has been voted among the top 25 luxury hotels in South Africa, you fly directly to Botswana and further indulge yourself by staying in exclusive accommodation across Botswana's northern wilderness, visiting remote and private concessions where the focus is on top quality service and of course outstanding wildlife sightings.

A stone’s throw from the alluring V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, The Dock House offers the ideal balance between convenience and complete privacy. The hotel's charming exterior gives way to an opulent world beyond its front door. Chandeliers and ornate ceiling cornices, among other fine touches, create a sense of Victorian charm and allude to the property’s historical roots, originally the Harbour Master's private residence in the 1800s.

An early start means you can take the morning direct flight to Maun from Cape Town, where you will be met and assisted with the check-in for yoru flight to DumaTau, an exclusive tented camp in the private 125,000 Linyanti Concession which borders the western Chobe National Park boundary. The luxury tented rooms at the camp are spacious, raised off the ground and under thatch with canvas walls - allowing guests to enjoy the night sounds of Africa from the comfort of their rooms. Day and night game viewing is conducted in open 4x4 vehicles along the Savuti Channels and the banks of the Linyanti River. It is also possible to enjoy guided walks along the river (on request).

Then you board another light aircraft and fly over the meandering Delta waterways. Upon landing you will be met and transferred to a wooded island in a private concession in the northern part of the Okavango Delta - accessible only by boat and the epitome of island living in the midst of the Delta. Little Vumbura offers both water and land based activities and regular sightings include lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo - along with extensive plains game this all combines to offer an excellent all-round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Delta.

Finally, you end your trip at Qorokwe, situated in a private concession which covers just over 26,000 hectares of pristine Okavango wilderness. Explore the area on morning and afternoon game drives, the evening drive usually returning after dark so as to get a chance at spotting the shyer nocturnal animals such as genet, civet, serval, porcupine and possibly aardwolf. Other wildlife seen in the area includes elephant, lion, leopard, and cheetah as well as wild dog. Or view the Delta and its wildlife by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe).
