Classic Kenya

Summary Of The Route and Costs

A 10 night trip staying for 3 nights on the edge of one of the world's New Wonders followed by a 7 night beach stay at one of Kenya's finest beaches.

Upon arrival into Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met and escorted through Immigration and the Arrivals Hall to meet up with your English-speaking driver-guide. The vehicle will be a 4x4 closed land cruiser, with a pop up roof for easy game viewing, and sliding windows for that all important ‘low down’ photo angle.

Your camp in the Mara is nestled in a river glade overlooking the Talek River - a favourite drinking spot for elephants in particular. Ilkeliani has been designed to combine the old traditional safari style with a modern and fresh feel and the tents each have commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. It is a permanent camp designed with eco-friendly principles to leave a minimum footprint on nature.

You will then fly to the coast for 7 nights at the beach. Located on the silver sands of Bamburi Beach, approximately 24 km from Moi International Airport, the all inclusive Neptune Beach Resort offers all the comforts of home. The resort animation team keeps guests entertained all day with regular changing animation programs like fashion shows, water gymnastics, bands, discos, acrobatic shows and traditional African folk dancers just to name a few.

Summary Of The Itinerary

Holiday Title: Classic Kenya

Countries Visited: Kenya

Day 1

Arrive into Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport.

You will be met once you disembark from the plane and assisted through Immigration (including help if required with visa application and processing), luggage collection and Customs (luggage screening), and then be accompanied to meet up with your driver-guide.

You will then be driven by your driver-guide in your private 4x4 safari vehicle to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Your vehicle will be a 4x4 closed land cruiser, with a pop up roof for easy game viewing, and sliding windows for that all important 'low down' photo angle. It will be just the two of you on the vehicle - so the vehicle will be yours and yours alone - giving you all the flexibility in the world. So if you want to sit for hours watching lions sleeping under a tree or waiting at the Mara River to see the wildebeest cross - you can! Nobody will be moaning in the seat behind you because they are bored!

You will arrive at your camp in time for lunch. The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular and most visited African game reserves. A true 'Out of Africa' safari destination, the reserve is mostly made up of open plains baked golden by the African sun. Big cats, elephants, giraffe, wild dog, buffalo, rhino, hyena, wildebeest, gazelles and impala are just a few of the many animal species that can be spotted on your daily game drives (no night drives are allowed in the actual reserve itself) and more than 1,000 species of birds have also been recorded. The sheer density of game and birdlife makes this an exciting and rewarding safari destination for first-time safari goers or for returning safari enthusiasts. During the months of August through to October, you may be able to witness the 'Great Migration', where literally thousands upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles gather to graze on the central Mara plains, tired and exhausted after their long and arduous trek from the Serengeti plains in neighbouring Tanzania to reach fresh grazing land.

Day 4

After an early breakfast at the camp you will be driven back to Nairobi, arriving at the airport in time to check in for your late afternoon flight across to the beach.

Kenya Airways KQ610 (Economy Class): Fly from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) departing at 17:00 to Moi International Airport (MBA), arriving at 18:00

You will be met in the Arrivals Hall and transferred to your beach hotel.

Fringed by swaying palm trees on one side and the warm Indian Ocean on the other, the white beaches along Kenya's coastline are the perfect holiday beach destination. The shoreline is lined with coral reefs, making this also an ideal spot for watersport and diving enthusiasts alike.

Day 11

You will need to check out of your room this morning but you can remain at the hotel and use all the facilities until you are collected for your transfer back to the airport. Alternatively, if you have an evening flight, the hotel may be able to arrange a late check out for you (additional cost and payable directly to the hotel) subject to the availability of the room.
