Escape from your daily stress on this 10 night trip. For your safari, stay at a lodge which is a simple extension of the natural environment beyond its walls. Then head to a remote Mozambican island lost in time. And to help with the stress levels, at certain times of the year you can enjoy complimentary nights at both properties!
Marataba Reserve is one of the most spectacularly beautiful places in South Africa. Rich red mountain rock towers over the verdant plains at its feet, and the contrasting mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills and deep valleys characterize the landscape. Marataba Safari Lodge has luxurious canvas-and-stone tented suites with private decks surrounded by stunning scenery. All of the large game species from elephant and rhino to the big cats, as well as an amazing variety of birds (including the largest colony of endangered Cape vultures in the world, with more than 800 breeding pairs) have settled here.
Then it is off to Ibo Island. Imagine idyllic white sandbank beaches where you can dive or snorkel some of Africa’s richest coral reefs. Picture grand, majestic architecture, some lovingly restored to their former glory while others have fallen into crumbling, marvellous ruins. This is the Ibo Island experience and the ultimate Mozambique holiday.
Arrive into Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport. Go through Immigration, collect your luggage and clear Customs, then make your way into the Arrivals Hall where you will be met and transferred to Marataba Safari Lodge - about a 3.5 hour drive.
Marataba is a 23,000 hectare private concession within the Big 5 Marakele National Park. Whether enjoying a game drive, walking trail, sunset river excursion, or a private dinner for 2, there is never enough time to exhaust the many ways there are to love this place.
After a morning game drive and breakfast back at the lodge, you will be collected and transferred back to Johannesburg.
