Directions For Drivers

From Johannesburg/Pretoria: Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank/eMalahleni (from Johannesburg Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12). Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast and Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg/Mashishing.

Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad, go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie, and continue along this road until you see the turning off to the left for Eastgate Airport. Go past the airport, and continue along this road until you reach the Timbavati Gate. Look out for Bones Bush Pub on your left and Josmacs Bush Pub on your right hand side. In front of you now will be the Timbavati Gate (Nkhulu Gate). On the right you will see a pub called Jos Macs and on the left a dirt road that is closed off by a gate. Proceed through this gate – you will be required to sign in but will not need to pay anything. All guests need to present their passport to allow entry into the reserve.

Once you are through, turn immediately left and travel back on to the dirt road (whose direct access is closed off by the gate) and proceed to Incheni Gate. The gate entrance fee at Incheni Gate is R160 per vehicle (subject to change).

Once through the Incheni Gate, carry straight on the main dirt road for approximately 20 minutes, do not turn off the main road.  You will see a large Vodacom cell phone tower on your right-hand side. Approximately 200 meters after the tower straight in front of you, you will arrive at Klaserie Private Nature Reserve Head Quarters. You will leave your car here and you will then be transferred to the lodge.

Do not get out of your car until you reach the Head Quarters. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.

From Hazyview: Follow the R40 towards Klaserie. Continue through Klaserie, and about 6 km before you reach Hoedspruit itself, turn right at the signboard towards Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport, Thornybush Reserve and Timbavati Reserve (Argyle Road). Go past the airport, continue along this road and follow the directions above.

From Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport: Turn left and proceed along this road until you reach the Timbavati Gate and follow the directions as above.

From Kruger National Park/Orpen Gate: Exit the Park, and continue along the R531. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie, and follow the directions from Hazyview as above.

PLEASE NOTE: Guests must arrive at the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve’s Head Quarters by 13:30 for the complimentary transfer to the Last Word Kitara Camp.
