Sasaab Lodge is situated close to the Buffalo Springs and Samburu National Parks, in northern Kenya. It is a place of rich natural diversity with an astounding number of animals - from huge majestic elephant to lion, leopard and cheetah and the 'Samburu Special Five' - the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich. The lodge is located in the midst of a community conservancy, rich in raw Samburu culture and traditions, and has been built with wildlife conservation and preservation of the environment foremost in mind. The lodge has been established in association with the local community who benefit directly and indirectly from your stay at Sasaab, and a stay here offers opportunities to become involved with the local community.

Game drives are undertaken in open sided game drive vehicles to ensure maximum game viewing and comfort. Abundant birdlife is found along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro and bird walks are offered by the lodge. Sasaab also has 5 resident camels and guests can enjoy camel rides in the cooler late afternoon hours. A popular choice is to embark on a leisurely walk down by the river and end up at our sundowner spot in time for an evening drink, which is around a 45 minute ride.

For  adrenaline junkies there are 4 quad bikes available to use. The lodge can even tailor a quad bike excursion complete with an overnight fly-camping expedition for the ultimate wild adventure.

Meals are offered in various areas around the lodge, and private dining on guests’ verandahs or by the pool are offered on request. Breakfast, lunch and a 3 course dinner are included in price, as well as snacks throughout the day, teas and coffees and excellent house wine.

The spa offers a selection of massage and beauty treatments designed to restore your body’s natural balance.

The accommodation comprises of 7 individually detached rooms with huge thatched roofs and canvas sides with sensational views down the river, over the bush and beyond. Each room is uniquely styled with its own private pool and open verandah. From the veranda, guests can take in the remarkable views across the Laikipia Plateau toward the jagged peak of Mount Kenya. The position on the river naturally facilitates watching the herds of elephant that come to bathe. In addition, Sasaab also has a family unit that has 2 interconnecting rooms which is ideal for 2 couples travelling together as well as families. The family unit also has a private plunge pool.
