Sanctuary Olonana Camp Location Map

Sanctuary Olonana Camp is an award-winning tented camp on a private stretch of the Mara River, at the foot of the impressive Siria Escarpment close to where the famous last scene from "Out of Africa" was filmed.

The Masai Mara is fabulous for seeing big cats, their prey and all the Big Five. It is also the stage for the greatest show on Earth - the wildebeest migration. From around July to October grunting herds of wildebeest and zebra cover the plains, often crossing the river between Tanzania and Kenya, attended by crocodile, lion and cheetah.

Sanctuary Olonana's main dining room and veranda command views over a dramatic stretch of the Mara River. See, and hear, the family of noisy hippos who colonise the banks below the camp. Experience first hand the sheer scale of the annual wildebeest migration across East Africa. There is also a library, a pool and even an organic garden where much of the food served in camp is grown. And who could forget the mini-spa where guests can experience traditional African remedies alongside French marine therapies from Thalgo.

The 14 canvas tents at Sanctuary Olonana are extremely comfortable and spacious. Each tent is attended by a personal butler and positioned to offer maximum privacy and tranquillity. With 2 queen size beds and an elegant lounge and dining area, your very own 'home from home' is sympathetically decorated to suit the backdrop and comes complete with hand-crafted furniture and fittings. The secluded accommodation includes a bathroom with shower, thoughtful touches such as a double basin and, of course, floor to ceiling mosquito netting. From your spacious wooden veranda overlooking the river, you can enjoy a quiet sundowner and observe the resident hippos frolicking before heading out for their nightly grazing.

In addition for those wanting a more exclusive safari experience, there is the Geoffrey Kent Suite. The suite offers a private lounge, dining area and a wraparound deck with an infinity pool overlooking the river. There are 2 bedrooms with freestanding bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows which open out onto the deck.
