Puku Ridge Camp lies nestled in a remote game rich area of South Luangwa National Park. This is a luxury camp with every comfort, yet it is intimate and friendly with just 8 tents and panoramic views over the abundant floodplain below,  offering the authentic safari experience that many people long for.

The camp offers a full range of game drives and night drives in the South Luangwa National Park using open 4x4 vehicles driven by a knowledgeable guide. The region is abundant with elephants, lions, wild dogs, buffalos, hippos, wildebeests and antelopes – many of which will also be easily spotted as you lounge on your balcony or eat dinner.

The Park can also be explored on foot with park rangers and tracking guides, offering a chance to see some of the more elusive animals such as leopards, genet cats and honey badgers.

Afternoons are spent relaxing in the camp's large living area in between game actvities. Listen out for the Puku antelope whistling to one other when there is danger in the air. When evening arrives, make your way to the central dining area for a delectable gourmet meal in the bush, or order dinner on your own private deck for a romantic night under the stars.

The camp has 8 identical rooms comprising of canvas, thatch and decking all overlooking the beautiful Puku Ridge floodplain and its seemingly endless parade of wildlife.

Watch the beautiful night sky and the sun rise from the star bed, elephants bathing from the comfort of your bath tub or plunge pool, perhaps even wild dogs making their way across the plains in pursuit of prey from your private viewing deck.

Rates Include

Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted on walking safaris.

A walking safari can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide. Regardless of age, the final decision on whether a guest can join a walking safari remains with the guide and camp manager.

General Information For Guests

All of the rooms have super-king beds draped in mosquito nets, a lounge area, tea/coffee making facilities, a minibar, air conditioning, hair dryers, in-room safe, overhead fans, a bathtub, his/hers washbasins, indoor and outdoor showers, a plunge pool, sweeping curved decks and a star/day bed tower.

The main area has an indoor and open-air lounge and various dining options, campfire, and a viewing hide overlooking the waterhole. It also has a gift shop.

The activities available at Puku Ridge include walking safaris and early morning/evening game drives. 

The South Luangwa is home of the walking safari and it remains the best way to experience the sights and sounds of the bush.

Complimentary wireless internet access is available in the main areas of the camp.

A laundry service is included.

Access to Puku Ridge Camp is by air to Mfuwe Airport. The transfer time from the airport to the camp is approximately 2 hours.
