Prophonyane Lodge is located within a 500 hectare nature reserve. Accommodation consists of a range of cottages and safari tents to ensure an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
A network of trails winds through the forest, crossing meandering waterways and finally culminating on the lip of the 80m high Phophonyane Falls. Exposed at this point are some of the world`s oldest rocks dated to 3.55 billion years.
Other activities at the lodge include swimming in the natural rock pool situated near the lower Phophonyane Falls, or arranging 4x4 drives to Gobolondlo Mountain, historical sites and to the Nsangwini bushmen paintings. The reserve is also home to 230 bird species.
Each unit is individually woven into the lush fabric of tall sub-tropical forest, and there is no place at the lodge where the soothing sound of the running water isn`t heard.
All meals can be enjoyed at the lodge`s renowned and stylishly furnished restaurant, where healthy home-cooked meals and fine wines are a feature and a roaring log fire lulls the senses and warms the heart.
General Information For Guests
The Reception is open daily from 7.30am to 5.00pm. Should you require help after hours please find the attendant on duty in the reception area or gate area.
The telephone and fax are at your disposal only during office hours. An internet service is also available. Please let the receptionist know if you would like to use the internet.
Braai stands are provided for guests and firewood is available at a nominal cost per crate.
A laundry service is available.
There are 2 swimming pools. The first is a salt-water pool located by the restaurant and the second pool is a river-water pool located at the beginning of Trail 1. Swimming towels are available from the Reception, please them in your room after use.:: ::If you would like a map or a description of the trails to take with you on an unguided walk, please ask the receptionist for a copy. Guided walks with a guide can also be booked at the reception.
Guests wishing to leave tips are requested to leave them at Reception. Guests are requested not to leave alcoholic beverages for staff.
Guests will be charged the replacement value for any breakages or damages to the furniture. The lodge will also charge guests for any ornamental items missing from the cottages. So please take care not to pack items that belong to Phophonyane Lodge.
