Kruger National Park
Camp Shonga is a small intimate bush retreat situated on a 15,000 hectare private concession in the south-eastern section of the world-renowned Kruger National Park.
The location of the lodge offers guests an opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. Guests can view the big game from open vehicles, coming close to the 'Big 5' - elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard - as well as wild dog and cheetah.
Some of the drives will be on the lodge's own concession, where your guide will have the opportunity to drive offroad to get you unbelievably close to the wildlife, but others may be in the Kruger Park itself, where your ranger will be restricted to remaining on the road network at all times.
With over 300 bird species, the reserve is also a birdwatcher's paradise.
The central guest areas consist of a charming lounge area including a library and both indoor and outdoor dining areas.
There is a spacious wooden deck from which to sip drinks as the game wanders past.
A splash pool makes for a cooling way to spend time between safari activities
Accommodation is in 5 luxurious tents, giving Camp Shonga a classic safari feel.
The tents are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms and ball and claw baths, outside shower, ceiling fans, mini-bar, fireplace and private game-viewing deck with recliner chairs and umbrella.
