The menu features the best of what the seasons have to offer on the farm.  Tucked away at the heart of the Retreat space, the Retreat Restaurant offers a laid-back dining experience with a focus on honest, seasonal food.

Guests can also experience exquisite views of the Franschhoek Valley as you explore the farm on foot or horseback. 

With an emphasis on stylish simplicity, the cottages are ideal for authentic farm living with a contemporary feel.  The accommodation options include the spectacular Mountain Villa, the historical Herbert Baker-designed Cottage 1685, the Cow Shed which is comfortably nestled in the corner of the farm, and the beautifully restored farm cottages in the Orchards, Werf and Retreat.

With open access to the working farm, guests are free to explore and discover everything Boschendal has to offer. Enjoy mountain biking and hiking trails, long afternoons sampling award-winning wines, browse the Farm and Homeware Shops and Gallery, and soak up the many opportunities to sit back, relax and breathe in the splendour of nature.

Directions For Drivers

From Cape Town via the N1: Drive on the N1 towards Paarl and take exit No 47 for Stellenbosch, Wellington and Klapmuts. At the bottom of the slip road, turn right onto the R44, passing under the N1. At the 4-way stop, cross straight over. Take your first left, turning into Franschhoek/Simondium. After 8.5 km turn right at the T-junction (towards Franschhoek). Travel for 3.6 km and turn right onto the R310 towards Stellenbosch. Boschendal is 1.5 km further along the road on the left-hand side.

General Information For Guests

The Werf Garden Suites have use of a shared swimming pool and are walking distance from the main Werf area. 

The Orchard Cottages are about 2.5 km away from the main Werf area.

The Retreat  Cottages sleep 4 and are about 3.5 km from the main Werf area.

The Cow Shed Cottage can accommodate 4 guests in two bedrooms, and has a spacious lounge area, and a secluded private patio with mountain views.

The Clarence Cottages offer 3 options: two two-bedroom and one three-bedroom cottage, all featuring spacious living areas, private patios, and farm views. Each cottage is just a short walk from the Main Werf Area, making it easy to explore the farm.

The Mountain Villa offers views of the valley and features a fully equipped kitchen, two lounges and a large wrap-around terrace, 6 bedrooms, an outside bar area, braai, pizza oven, large swimming pool, beautifully kept gardens and private lake. The main Werf area is located 4 km from this villa. The villa has a dedicated host (daily from 07:00 to 16:00).

The Cottage 1685 has views over the Boschendal Estate and the valley and is about 2 km from the main Werf. It has a large verandah, outside dining and an eco-friendly swimming pool and can sleep up to 6 people in the cottage and 4 people in the garden annex.

The Deli Restaurant offers farm meals ranging from farm-style breakfasts to popular wood-fired pizzas for dinner.  The Retreat Restaurant offers a laid-back dining experience with a focus on honest, seasonal food. Or enjoy a relaxed afternoon picnic on the lawns, featuring the best seasonal picnic baskets - prebooking is advised. 

Wine tastings can also be enjoyed at either the The Cellar Door and/or The Manor House.
