Discover the Kenya safari of your dreams in your very own private 4x4 safari vehicle with an experience driver-guide, and see for yourself the vast, gently rolling landscape of acacia-specked grasslands darkened by migrating wildebeest herds.
With your driver-guide, you will drive in your private 4x4 safari vehicle from Nairobi down to the Masai Mara (approximately 5 hours), where you will have 3 action filled days of thrilling game drives with nobody else to please apart from yourselves as you find yourself immersed in the very heart of the migrating herds.
Watch in anticipation as they stand nervously looking to cross the swirling Mara River, and then gasp as one brave wildebeest makes the first move, immediately followed by every other animal. The river becomes alive with swimming wildebeest, and thrashing crocodiles. It is a spectacle that many people have seen on TV documentaries, and to witness it live is an outstanding safari experience.
You will stay in a lodge set high on a bush-cloaked hill with long views over the savannah and down to the winding coils of the crocodile-filled Mara River. Mara Serena Lodge truly stands centre-stage to one of Africa's most dramatic wildlife arenas, offering guests here a ringside seat for the ‘greatest wildlife show on earth' - the legendary migration of the wildebeest.
You will be collected early this morning by your safari driver-guide, and driven down to the Masai Mara National Reserve in your private 4x4 safari vehicle, with a roof hatch and sliding windows for great photo opportunities. The drive is about 5 hours, but you pass through rural areas including little villages, so it is an interesting journey! You will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge.
Located at the very centre of the famous 'Mara Triangle' of the world-renowned Big 5 Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is set high on a bush-cloaked hill with long views over the savannah and down to the winding coils of the hippo-filled Mara River.
Depart after lunch for a game drive in the reserve and into the masses of wildebeest stretching out across the plains. As well as the wildebeest, the Mara also offers an abundance of plains game including zebra, giraffe and antelope, making this the ideal hunting ground for Kenya's famous big cats. There is also a good chance of spotting a leopard in the wild, and other predators include cheetah and spotted hyena.
Set off with your driver-guide after an early breakfast to see more of the annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest. Enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness, before returning to the lodge late afternoon.
Head off today with your driver-guide to explore a different area of the reserve. Search out the members of Africa's Big Five (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino) as well as 95 other species of mammals and 550 species of birds. Return to the lodge for lunch, and maybe a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, before heading out again for an afternoon game drive.
After breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven back to Nairobi. Upon arrival back in Nairobi, there is the option to extend this trip with a beach stay - rates available on request.
