Classic Cape Town and Tented Safari Adventure

Summary Of The Route and Costs

This one-week adventure gives you the chance to experience a rich piece of Cape Town history, followed by a Big 5 safari in the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve where you will sleep in a 1920s style safari tent under starry skies.

During your 4 nights in Cape Town, you will stay at Cape Heritage. With a history dating back to the 18th century, each room has a unique character and features original artworks by both established local artists and new talent. In the centre of the hotel is a courtyard and a grapevine, planted in this courtyard in 1781, still flourishes today, bearing fruit and shading guests during breakfast time.

You will have use of a hire car for a couple of days while in the city too, enabling you to explore further afield and also drive yourself back to the airport on your last day in Cape Town, where you will catch a flight across to Port Elizabeth for your 3 night safari.

The secluded Quatermains Camp really captures the pioneering spirit of a safari. Intimate and rustic, this 3* expedition style tented camp offers guests the opportunity to experience the romance of those early safari days coupled with superb game viewing. Each day you'll set off on 2 game drives through the Amakhala Game Reserve in search of wildlife. Guided by an experienced ranger on an open safari vehicle, look for the Big 5, black wildebeest, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope. At night, relax in the boma area around an open fire, followed by dinner served under a blanket of stars.
