Klaserie Game Reserve
Days 1 - 3: Klaserie Game Reserve
Experience a true Kruger safari at nThambo Tree Camp, an eco-friendly camp which provides a truly personal safari experience. The camp is located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park and forms part of the Greater Kruger Park. On a game drive safari guests will be led by experienced and professional game rangers and Shangaan trackers through a wildlife area rich in game including lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo as well as hyena, hippo, giraffe, zebra and a whole host of other wildlife. Night drives are also an option for those who want to see the nocturnal wildlife, while optional bush walks can be arranged too.
The main camp and guest areas include a comfortable lounge and dining area under thatch. The dining room has a large table where, as per safari tradition, everyone dines together to enjoy each other's company and share stories of the day's game sightings. There is also a boma area with a camp fire, perfect for warming you up with your coffee before the morning walk, or for enjoying evening drinks around the fire. In addition guests will experience a traditional South African braai cooked over the open fire. During the hot summer months guests can relax around the splash pool - don't be surprised if there is a herd of elephants approaching to drink the water!
In the evenings the main area is lit with lanterns while plug points in the chalets can be used to charge your camera batteries. There is also Wi-Fi available in the lounge and bar area.
Accommodation is comfortable with a touch of bush luxury. There are 5 solar-powered tree house chalets, each raised on wooden stilts. The floor is wooden decking and the walls are canvas tent with a thatched roof. In addition, each chalet has a verandah which overlooks the plain in front of camp with views of the Drakensberg mountain range in the distance. All the chalets are reasonably spaced out from each other ensuring privacy for all guests.

Letaba Rest Camp
Kruger National Park
Days 4 - 5: Kruger National Park
Self-drive is the most popular way to visit Kruger, and is a wonderful experience - the thrill of driving along a road by yourself and coming across a pride of lions basking under a nearby tree, or waiting at a peaceful waterhole and having a sighting all to yourself is hard to beat.
Inside the Park, there is an excellent infrastructure of roads, some of which are tarred, others gravel. Good, clear signposts help to make the driving experience easy and enjoyable.
Drivers must remain on the roads at all times, and are NOT allowed to drive off-road or get out of their vehicles, except at designated viewing points.
The Northern region of the Kruger Park is dominated by mopane trees. The eastern half of the region is a vast sea of open mopane scrubland, and is the best area of the Park for seeing tsessebe, ostrich, roan antelope and, if you are fortunate, rhino.
Lion and leopard are also regular sights, and you may also see cheetah.
Westwards, the vegetation changes to a taller, more interesting mix of vegetation, although still dominated by mopane trees. This entire region is excellent for viewing elephant, buffalo and zebra.
Letaba is one of the largest and most pleasant camps in the Park, overlooking the Letaba River and densely covered with a highly attractive range of tall trees and palms. The name means 'river of sand', and the sandy riverbed is an excellent location for game viewing, particularly elephant, which thrive in the area. At night the stars overlook a symphony of sounds. Owls, nightjars, frogs, fruit bats, crickets and cicadas all vie to be heard, until the lion roars, then all are silent.
Recommended accommodation is in bungalows sleeping up to 3, cottages sleeping up to 6, or the 2 guest houses which can sleep up to 8 and 9 respectively.
The restaurant has a magnificent view over the river, and the well-stocked shop has a good selection of food, curios and clothes. Other facilities include a petrol station and a cafeteria.

Satara Rest Camp
Kruger National Park
Days 6 - 7: Kruger National Park
Perfectly located to give easy access to the excellent game-viewing areas of the Central Region, Satara is one of the largest camps in the Park, with open spaces, an abundance of birdlife, and a very pleasant atmosphere.
Rustic and communal, the camp borrows much of its ambience from the rugged and untamed bush in which it is located. The flat plains around Satara are scattered with large Marula and Knobthorn trees, and ambient nights are characterised by the haunting noises of fruit bats, cicadas and crickets coupled with owl calls and the roar of a lion.
Some of the most popular animals to be seen in the area are giraffe, kudu, impala, waterbuck, zebra, warthog, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, cheetah and hyena. Satara Camp also has a firm reputation for being one of the best spots in the Park for viewing large cats. Attracted by the herds of antelope that come to graze here on the fertile plains, lion, leopard and cheetah are often spotted stalking their prey nearby the camp – a spectacular sight that you’re unlikely to forget.
Expert guides and trackers are on-hand to take guests on game drives and walks, where they can spot the Big Five, learn about the intricacies of bushveld ecology and come to grips with nature at her finest.

Skukuza Rest Camp
Kruger National Park
Day 8: Kruger National Park
The Southern region of the Kruger National Park covers about one-fifth of the total area of the Park. Several excellent drives - especially those in the general area around Lower Sabie - combine exceptional scenery with a rich mixture of game and birdlife.
Highly scenic grassy savanna is rich in zebra and giraffe, while tall acacias and ever-graceful marula trees abound and provide welcome shade for herds of kudu and impala, while dainty steenbuck also find refuge from the blistering sun. It is no wonder, with all this game, that this area is known as 'Lion Country'! The region also has an incredibly high density of rhino - both black and white.
Skukuza is the Park's headquarters, and by far the largest and most busiest of all the camps in the Park. It is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River - a great place to look for hippos and buffalo, especially in the early morning. All of the Big 5 can readily be seen in the vicinity of Skukuza. In the camp itself, there is a population of warthog who wander around keeping the grassy areas nice and trim!
The enormous shop is well-stocked with foodstuffs, curios and even clothing and books. The licensed restaurant serves buffet style meals, or the adjoining cafeteria is ideal if you just fancy a quick bite to eat. There are also 2 swimming pools.
Accommodation ranges from bungalows which sleep up to 3, cottages that sleep between 4 and 6, and guest houses which sleep between 8 and 12.
