Suggested Holiday Itinerary
Summary Of The Route and Costs
This 10 night itinerary is ideal for those looking for an affordable way to experience the best of Zambia. Starting with 6 nights in South Luangwa, you stay in 2 different tented camps, where you can experience game drives and walks with experienced guides. Then, you fly to the Lower Zambezi for 2 nights, staying in another tented camp where elephants frequently wander past your tent to feed on the many seed pods dropped from the trees above. Finally, a 2 night stay at Victoria Falls rounds off your holiday, where the iconic Victoria Falls are literally on your doorstep.
Flatdogs Camp, your first destination, is regularly visited by elephants, impala, puku, bushbuck, hippo and giraffe and there is an abundance of bird life to hone your twitching skills. As well as watchng the wildlife from the camp or from your sunlounger around the pool, don't miss out on the professionally-guided game viewing activities in the National Park itself, including morning drives, night drives and walking safaris. Or visit local community and conservation projects or artisan workshops in the local area. You will not be bored, we can promise you!
You then head deep into the Park, to what is considered one of the most rewarding game viewing areas in the South Luangwa. Nkonzi Camp is surrounded by pristine grassy plains and ancient forests, and from the moment you arrive at camp, you will feel that you have the entire Park to yourself. With zero light pollution too, the stargazing at night is magnificent, with panoramic views of the Milky Way that have to be seen to be believed. This camp is seasonal, however, so is only open from June until the end of October.
Chongwe Camp, set on the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park, is your next stop. Each tent offers panoramic views along the Chongwe River, and you can sit out in front of your tent in comfortable lounge chairs and watch the abundant wildlife visiting the banks to drink and graze on the lush grasses. Game drives, walking safaris, canoe trips and boat cruises are also just some of the ways to pass your time here.
Finally, you head to the Victoria Falls for a 2 night stay. The Avani Victoria Falls Resort's biggest draw is its impressive location - just a 5 minute stroll from the Falls themselves - and all guests enjoy free unlimited access to this famous attraction. A cultural wow welcomes guests at the resort’s reception, with Ngoni Warriors performing traditional songs and dances.
