A Gentle Introduction to Kenya

Summary Of The Route and Costs

If you're a little bit hesitant about throwing your family into a full-blown safari that involves some heavy-duty travel, this trip is the perfect compromise. It's also a great way to test the waters for later family holidays.

Just outside Nairobi, you'll stay in a unique tented camp tucked away in Nairobi National Park. It's a wilderness escape on the doorstep of a city and home to zebra, wildebeest and antelope as well as lion and leopard. You will have a private game vehicle for all your game drives.

In place of one game drive you will visit the nearby Daphine Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. The orphanage has successfully hand-raised over 150 infant elephants and a team of trained carers represent the lost elephant family and are there for the little elephant until such time as it is able to become independent, at which stage the elephant is re-released back into the bush.

After 2 nights of this 'soft' safari experience, you'll head for the white sands and clear waters of the Indian Ocean for 8 nights of perfect beach bliss. Sarova Whitesands has a Kids Club as well as 5 swimming pools and a selection of restaurants. Parents can also head to the spa if they want some 'me-time' for a few hours!  In the evenings, you can relax and enjoy the entertainment, which can include incredible displays by acrobats and fire-eaters.
