Suggested Holiday Itinerary
Summary Of The Route and Costs
Combining two of the best reserves that Kenya has to offer, Amboseli and the Mara, this 7 night itinerary gives you nothing but a safari from start to end. On top of the outstanding wildlife that are found here, the stunning locations make this a wonderful way to spend your week's holiday.
You begin with 3 nights in Amboseli. Satao Elerai's elegantly furnished cottage rooms have large sliding doors that open out onto your own private verandah with views over the plains and the Amboseli National Park, as well as Mount Kilimanjaro. A sundowner with Africa's highest mountain as the backdrop is something not to be missed and only a few locations offer such an amazing chance to take this iconic African sunset picture.
You will then head to Kicheche Valley for 4 nights. This is a beautiful tented camp hidden in a prime wildlife area of the Naibosho Conservancy, which adjoins the Masai Mara National Reserve. The Naibosho Conservancy is a private conservancy so guests staying here can escape the crowds and experience the African wilderness without the presence of other tourist vehicles. There are no physical boundaries between the main Mara Reserve and the conservancy so the wildlife is free to roam unhindered.
There is also the opportunity for the more intrepid traveller to head off on an afternoon walking safari and stay overnight in a fly-camp in the bush. These excursions are led by one of Kicheche's senior guides and an armed ranger. It is an outstanding opportunity to see the Mara from a completely different perspective and also offers some welcome exercise whilst on safari. You will spend the night under canvas in the wilderness, with the sounds of the African bush surrounding you as you fall asleep.

Satao Elerai Camp is located in a quiet and unspoilt setting on a 5,000 acre private conservation area located 12 km south east of Amboseli National Park at the foot of Africa's largest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp looks down onto the Amboseli National Park in one direction and up to Mount Kilimanjaro in the other direction, giving guests what is arguably the best location of any camp in Amboseli. One of the biggest advantages of Satao Elerai Camp is that because it is located on its own private conservation area, guests have the chance to view wildlife here as well as on daily game drives into the Amboseli National Park itself. The camp also offers the opportunity to enjoy spectacular bush sundowners, night game drives and game walks on the conservancy, which are activities that are not available to the lodges located within the National Park.

Watching wildlife at close range, but without encroaching on their space, is endlessly fascinating and the guides instincts and experience provide superb photo opportunities of wild animals. Game drives are usually extended or are even full day affairs. Picnic breakfasts, lunches and sundowner drinks are popular options to include on game drives.
