Chobe Bush Lodge

Chobe National Park

Days 1 - 2: Chobe National Park

Chobe Bush Lodge Location Map

Chobe Bush Lodge is situated directly on the border with Chobe National Park, along the Chobe River, near the meeting point of 4 countries (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia).

The Park is most famous for its elephant population - believed to be the highest concentration of elephants found anywhere in the world. But it is not only elephants that live here in huge numbers - hippos are plentiful, and float lazily in the Chobe River during the day, emerging at dusk to graze along the river banks. Large herds of buffalo, zebra and lechwe (a type of antelope) are also common sightings. Lion are never far away and are often seen in large prides, lazing around in the shade during the heat of the day and slowly awakening themselves at dusk. Hyena and leopard also hunt at night and are often seen once the sun goes down, whilst another predator, the cheetah, can be seen stalking its prey during the day.

Daily game drives and boat cruises offer the best way to witness the wildlife.

Chobe Bush Lodge features 38 luxury en-suite rooms with air-conditioning, TV, safe and open plan bathroom with bath and shower.  The lodge also offers 4 large family rooms consisting of 2 en-suite bedrooms.  Rooms on the upper level of the lodge have balconies with views out over the Chobe floodplains in the far distance, whereas lower level rooms have verandas with views over Chobe National Park.

The lodge’s main area is semi-enclosed and built to overlook the lodge’s bush surrounds of Chobe National Park. Lodge facilities include the Bush Restaurant, serving a combination of buffet and a la carte style meals, a swimming pool, secluded viewing platforms overlooking the Chobe National Park, cocktail bar, lounge areas with Wi-Fi spots and curio shop.

Days 3 - 5: Okavango Delta

Sango Safari Camp Location Map

Sango Safari Camp is situated in the Khwai Concession, and is nestled in the shade of the trees overlooking the Khwai River, which forms a natural border between the neighbouring Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession. The camp offers guests the perfect base from which to explore the wildlife and culture of this unique habitat.

This intimate safari camp is named after the Sango Family - some of the original inhabitants of the Khwai area, and now part-owners of the camp. Guests will have the chance to learn first-hand about the unique lifestyle and experiences that come from living and growing up in one of the most wildlife rich areas of Botswana.

Sango Safari Camp is focused on delivering an exceptional wildlife experience - allowing guests to take advantage of a host of wildlife activities including open vehicle game drives in both Moremi and the Khwai area, guided bush walk and night drives. Walking and mokoro activities may be limited in the wet season due to dense vegetation.

With a combination of permanent water, seasonal floodplains, open grasslands, riverine forests, and dry woodlands this incredibly rich habitat supports a diversity and abundance of mammals and birds rarely matched in northern Botswana.

Accommodating just 12 guests in 6 en-suite meru tents Sango Safari Camp is designed in the style of the classic tented safari camp of days gone by.

With its open-air bucket showers, hand crafted furnishings and classic styling Sango Safari Camp aims to rekindle the atmosphere of the luxury mobile safari camp, successfully blending the rustic with the luxurious.

Rooms may normally be occupied from 14:00 on the day of arrival and must normally please be vacated by 11:00 on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.

General Information For Guests

Children aged 2 years and older are welcome. Children under 12 are not allowed on mokoro or walking activities.

All rooms have open-air showers as well as an inside shower, a balcony/deck, a fan, mosquito nets, a room safe, and electrical outlets.

The camp offers both land-based and water-based activities. These include full day game drives, shorter 3 hour game drives, night game drives, village tour (2 hours), and mokoro trips (2.5 hours).

The main camp has a dining area, a lounge, a bar, a boma, a plunge pool and a viewing deck.

All the furniture used in the camp is handmade and sourced either from renewable commercial timber plantations in South Africa or from scrap wood found locally. All the decks for the canvas tents come from a special programme called 'Working for Water' in South Africa where harmful exotic trees are being removed from sensitive wetland environments.

The electricity for both the camp and the staff village comes entirely from a solar powered system, enabling the camp to be independent from the use of Government electricity. All the hot water used is generated in solar geysers and the camp's own above ground sewerage treatment plant ensures that no pollutants enter into the underlying water table and surrounding marshes as well the river.
