Escape from your daily stress on this 10 night trip. For your safari, stay at a lodge which is a simple extension of the natural environment beyond its walls. Then head to a beautiful property on the Mozambique mainland overlooking the Indian Ocean with a style very reminiscent of the Greek island of the same name.
You start with an amazing 4 night safari. Marataba Reserve is one of the most spectacularly beautiful places in South Africa. Rich red mountain rock towers over the verdant plains at its feet, and the contrasting mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills and deep valleys characterize the landscape. Marataba Safari Lodge has luxurious canvas-and-stone tented suites with private decks surrounded by stunning scenery. All of the large game species from elephant and rhino to the big cats, as well as an amazing variety of birds (including the largest colony of endangered Cape vultures in the world, with more than 800 breeding pairs) have settled here.
On one of the nights here, you will sleep out in the Thabametsi Treehouse - but this is a treehouse with a four-poster bed, a lounge area on an outside deck, and a bathroom with a walk in shower, double vanity basin and toilet - so forget anything you ever thought about treehouses from your childhood! You will spend the night with just the sounds of the bush around you, and the inky blackness of the sky above you, dotted with the stars and the Milky Way. Listen for the whoop of the hyena, or even the roar of a lion in the distance. If you get scared, a quick call to the lodge via the walkie-talkie radio and your ranger will be there in 15 minutes to whisk you back to your room.
After one night back in Johannesburg it is off to Vilanculos and onto Santorini Mozambique, set on the clifftop with panoramic views over the bay and the blue Indian Ocean waters. The attention to detail in every space and the personal touch delivered throughout your stay is beyond expectation. From the captivating decor and intriguing design within the villas, to the lush landscaped gardens and outstanding food, there is nothing that has been missed.

Upon landing into Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport, you will be welcomed at the aircraft by a security approved airside supplier. If the aircraft is parked against the terminal building, you will be met at the sky bridge; if the aircraft is parked away from the airport building then you will be met at the entrance of the airport building. You will then be escorted to Immigration and onto the correct baggage carousel to collect your luggage. Finally, you will be accompanied through Customs and into the arrivals terminal, where a Guest Service Officer will be waiting to welcome you to South Africa and introduce you to your transfer driver.
You will be met and transferred to Marataba Safari Lodge - about a 3.5 hour drive.
Marataba Safari Lodge is set in a malaria-free 23,000 hectare private concession within the Marakele National Park. Just 4 hours from Johannesburg, this is a sanctuary where busy people can find themselves again by connecting with nature. In the company of your Field Guide, you will learn more about the Big Five and the many unique animal species found on the Marakele National Park. Two safaris a day (one early morning, and one late afternoon, into the evening) are each approximately 3-4 hours long, and include a scenic coffee and sundowner break to purely appreciate just being in the moment.

This afternoon, your game drive will take you to the Thabametsi Treehouse. You'll arrive just before sunset and the coolness of the approaching evening brings animals into the open. A gourmet picnic can be enjoyed at your table on the deck, from where you have front row seats to the wildest theatre. Then curl up in the four-poster bed under a blanket of stars and a warm cosy duvet, and go to sleep with the sounds of the African bush surrounding you.
After your morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast. You will then be collected and transferred back to Johannesburg where you will overnight near the airport before your flight to Mozambique the following morning.

After breakfast, you will be collected and transferred to the International Departure Terminal, where you will check in for your flight across to Mozambique.

You will be met in the Arrivals Hall and transferred to Santorini Mozambique.
Nestled above the red cliffs of Kingfisher Bay in Vilanculos, Santorinis' unfurling view of the Bazaruto Archipelago islands and curling mainland in the distance is unsurpassable. Santorini Mozambique is like a small Greek village in the heart of a raw African landscape - a magical combination. The Bazaruto Archipelago, a chain of islands strung out like a pearl necklace, is a protected National Marine Reserve and the waters here are teeming with coral and tropical fish.
Vilanculos
You will be transferred back to the airport, where you will check in for your flight home via Johannesburg.
