Cape Town, Safari and Island Getaway

Summary Of The Route and Costs

With a 3 night stay at the superb Lion Sands River Lodge over selected periods, this holiday also includes 2 complimentary nights at their sister property in Cape Town, the historic Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel. If that is not enough to tempt you, then end the trip on a tropical island surrounded by azure-blue warm seas just off the coast of Mozambique.

You begin with 4 nights at Cape Town's Cape Cadogan, a boutique hotel in a Victorian-Georgian building that dates back to the 1800s. The interiors were inspired by Oscar Wilde's bohemian lifestyle, with flamboyant fabrics and antique furniture. A comfortable lounge with a cosy fireplace beckons on cooler days while the outside swimming pool in summer is the perfect place to unwind and appreciate the views of Table Mountain.

You then fly directly to the Kruger for your 3 nights on safari. A fantastic choice for all those looking for an authentic, yet luxurious, safari experience, Lion Sands River Lodge provides for all the elements of an unforgettable stay. Set in the game-rich Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, game drives take place twice daily with only 6 guests per vehicle to ensure a quality experience. Other activity options include bush walks, birding, astronomy, river walks and hippo tours, boma dinners and visits to local villages. Those in need of some pampering will enjoy the attentions of the on-site spa therapists.

A direct flight to Vilanculos, and a short boat transfer gets you to the magical Mozambiquan island of Bazaruto, where you will find Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort. With easy access to the white sand beaches of the island and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, guests can relax on the beach or explore the waters through scuba diving, snorkelling, skiing, fishing or dhow boat cruises. With a myriad coral species, thousands of tropical fish, dolphins, whales and sea turtles there is plenty to see and enjoy.

Summary Of The Itinerary

Holiday Title: Cape Town, Safari and Island Getaway

Countries Visited: South Africa and Mozambique

Day 1

Arrive into Cape Town Airport. Once you have collected your luggage, make your way into the Arrivals Hall where your driver will meet you. You will then be transferred to your hotel.

Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel is authentic Cape Town at its loveliest - beauty, sophisticated charm, and quirky personality in equal measure. Each of the rooms has been individually decorated, marrying a touch of yesteryear with contemporary chic and bohemian influence.

Day 5

You will be collected and transferred back to the airport, arriving in time to check in for your flight to the Kruger Park.

Airlink 4Z651 (Economy Class): Fly from Cape Town International Airport (CPT) departing at 10:35 to Skukuza Airport (SZK), arriving at 13:05

You will be met in the Arrivals Hall and transferred to Lion Sands River Lodge, in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Lion Sands is a place that enriches one's soul and promises life-changing moments and opportunities that will leave you with memories of unforgettable experiences. Two safaris take place each day - in the morning and late afternoon - which is when the wildlife is most active. Rise before dawn to set off through the early morning mist in search of game, or watch the sun set over a dusty horizon as the nocturnal world emerges. As Lion Sands is a private game reserve within the Sabi Sand Reserve, safaris are not confined to main roads and your field guide is able to navigate through dense bush, following the tracks of animals. Excitement rides high in discovering an intensely wild adventure every day.

Day 8

After you return from your morning game drive, you will have time to enjoy breakfast before you are collected and transferred back to the airport, where you will check in for your flight via Kruger Mpumalanga Airport to Mozambique.

Airlink 4Z930 (Economy Class): Fly from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP) departing at 10:35 to Vilanculos Airport (VNX), arriving at 12:55

On arrival at Vilanculos Airport, after clearing Immigration and Customs you will be met by an Anantara Bazaruto airport representative, and escorted to your transfer vehicle. A short 15 minute drive in an air-conditioned vehicle from the airport takes you to the landing point on the beach, where you take a boat transfer to the island. Please be advised that there is no jetty, so guests are required to wade through knee-deep water to get to the boat. The boat transfer takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to reach the island, depending on the tides.

Fufill your escapist dreams on the paradise private island of Bazaruto, in a jewel-like archipelago off the coast of Mozambique. With few distractions to interrupt your stay at Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, you can completely lose yourself in dazzling natural beauty and peaceful island life.

Day 13

Take the boat back to the mainland, where you will be met and transferred onto Vilanculos Airport, arriving in time to check in for your flight home via Johannesburg.
