Southern Africa Discovery

Summary Of The Route and Costs

A perfect 13 night retreat for couples of all ages, your trip combines the lively V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, the Winelands, and a Big 5 safari in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve where you’ll stay in a lodge that overlooks a large waterhole which is a hive of animal activity. You will then explore the Lowveld on a guided tour, before heading to Mozambique, where you’ll enjoy white beaches and crystal clear water.

You start with 3 nights at the Commodore Hotel in Cape Town, which is situated just a stone's throw from the V&A Waterfront, one of South Africa's most visited destinations. Enjoy the cosmopolitan mix of experiences here, ranging from leisure to shopping to entertainment. There are over 80 restaurants, hundreds of shops and the Zeitz MOCAA, the continent's first major museum dedicted to art from Africa.

When your hire car is delivered on Day Three, venture further afield and explore the Cape Peninsula, breathing in the crisp, clean air, and enjoying the spectacular views from the high sea cliffs. Then drive yourselves to the Winelands for a 2 night stay in Franschhoek - home to some of the best wine estates and restaurants in South Africa.

A short drive to the airport and you are then on a direct flight across the country to Arathusa Safari Lodge in the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Game drives, in an open safari vehicle, are conducted in the early morning and late afternoon every day in search of animals - both large and small. Experienced, knowledgeable and personable rangers are paired with local trackers, and together they ensure a first class safari experience. Trackers sit up at the front of the vehicle looking for fresh animal tracks, while rangers skillfully navigate into ravines and through thickets in pursuit of fantastic game sightings. Close encounters are guaranteed so you can expect one-of-a-kind photographic opportunities of the Big 5, and much more - including over 300 bird species.

After your safari, you have 2 nights in the small village of Hazyview - on your full day here you will go on a full day guided tour of the beautiful Panorama Route - famous for its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage.

You will then fly to Mozambique for 3 nights. Bahia Mar is located where the azure waters of the Indian Ocean touch the palm fringed beaches of Vilankulo on mainland Mozambique. It is the ultimate destination for visitors wanting to experience colourful local culture as well as the fabulous beauty of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
