An 8 night private safari package, with your own driver-guide to show you the sights and sounds of the African bush.
Begin with the red elephants in Tsavo, then marvel at more elephants in the Amboseli National Park. Visit Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru for 2 days filled with bird-watching and hippo gazing, and then end with racing across the open plains of the Masai Mara in search of big cats, elephant, buffalo, rhino and 95 other species of mammals and 550 species of birds.
Once you have cleared Customs & Immigration at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and collected your luggage, you need to make your way to the Arrivals Hall, where you will be met by your safari driver-guide who will be holding a sign board with your name on it. You will then be driven in your private safari minibus to Tsavo West National Park, arriving in time for lunch, after which you can choose to go out on a game drive or just relax in the lodge.
Today, you will have a morning and an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge inbetween for lunch. Tsavo is home to Africa's Big 5 - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino (including the endangered black rhino) as well as zebra, giraffe, antelope, spotted and striped hyena, baboons, a large population of hippo, and many crocodiles. Over 500 species of bird have also been recorded.
You will depart after breakfast for the Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. The Park is most famous for its elephant population, where herds of up to 100 can be seen on game drives, along with buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, impala and warthog. Not surprisingly, never far away from these herds of grazers are lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal, hyena and serval cat. The birdlife is also extremely good, with over 400 bird species recorded, including over 40 birds of prey.
Head out after breakfast to explore more of the Park. The bull elephants in particular have incredibly long tusks, indeed, these are some of the largest tusks to be seen throughout the entire African continent. Return to the lodge for lunch, and after a short siesta or maybe even a dip in the pool, depart for an afternoon drive, returning to the lodge just before sunset.
After breakfast, you will be driven back to Nairobi, where you will have lunch (included) before heading off to Lake Naivasha. You will have a late afternoon boat trip (one hour) on the lake, before checking into your lodge.
Today you will taken to Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day of game viewing. The Lake Nakuru National Park was created in 1968 to protect the huge flocks of greater and lesser flamingos that breed and nest at the edge of Lake Nakuru, and which give the lake it's characteristic pink rim. It is also one of the few places to see the endangered black rhino alongside the white rhino. Other wildlife that can be spotted includes Rothschild's giraffe, Cape buffalo, waterbuck, lion, leopard, zebra, gazelle, impala, eland and the hyrax. The Park also has extremely large pythons, who mainly inhabit the dense woodlands, but can often be seen crossing the roads or dangling from trees.
Depart early this morning for the drive down to the Masai Mara, arriving in time for a late lunch. In the afternoon, you can either choose to relax at the lodge or your driver can take you out on a short afternoon drive across the sunbaked Mara plains.
