A Flavour of Kenya

Summary Of The Route and Costs

If you're a beach and wildlife lover in equal measure, this should be the ideal Kenya holiday for you. With 5 nights on safari and 5 nights on the beach it's a trip of two perfect halves.

First, you'll journey to the Amboseli National Park, where you'll stay in the tented Gold eco-rated Porini Amboseli Camp in the Selenkay Conservancy. The conservancy is just north of the Park itself and the land is leased from the local Maasai with the aim of protecting the wildlife habitat and encouraging wildlife conservation. The conservancy is home to an array of wildlife such as elephant, gazelle, lion, giraffe cheetah, leopard, mongoose, porcupine, yellow baboon and bat-eared fox. Visitors can enjoy close encounters with the resident wildlife here on day and night game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle led by an experienced and knowledgeable Maasai guide.

You will also head into the Amboseli National Park itself for a game drive. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants as well as other wildlife species such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah

You will then be driven back to Nairobi for one night at Nairobi Tented Camp in the Nairobi National Park. Bordering the capital city of Nairobi, Nairobi National Park is one of Africa's smallest National Parks and one of the only National Parks in the world to be in such close proximity to a city centre. It boasts a large and varied wildlife population which roam the wide open grass plains against a backdrop of city scrapers. The Park is home to one of Kenya's most successful rhinoceros sanctuaries with the world's highest concentration of black rhinoceros. It's wetland areas are abundant with birdlife boasting over 400 bird species.

You are then driven down to the Masai Mara and onto Porini Mara Camp which is situated in the private Ol Kinyei Conservancy. The area is famous for seeing big cats as well as a host of other wildlife. Enjoy exploring the expansive plains here on daily morning and afternoon guided game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle and take in the great scenery as well as the amazing wildlife. There is also the opportunity to go on a guided bush walk or visit a local Masaai village community to give you an insight into the Maasai culture and way of life.

Finally, you head back to Nairobi and fly to the beach for 5 nights of beach bliss. Fringed by swaying palm trees on one side and the warm Indian Ocean on the other, the white beaches along Kenya's coastline are the perfect holiday beach destination. The shoreline is lined with coral reefs, making this also an ideal spot for watersport and diving enthusiasts alike.

Summary Of The Itinerary

Countries Visited: Kenya

Day 1

Arrive into Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport.

After you have had your passports stamped by the Immigrations Officer, proceed to the Baggage Hall to collect your luggage and then go through Customs and exit the building onto the street outside, where our representative will be waiting to meet you, holding a signboard displaying your name. He will introduce you to your driver and you will then be transferred to Porini Amboseli Camp - a journey of about 4-5 hours by road.

10 miles north of Amboseli National Park is the Porini Amboseli Camp in the Selenkay Conservancy. Selenkay shares the same eco-system as Amboseli and this pioneering conservancy is an important wildlife dispersal area for wildlife moving out of the Park. The conservancy has no more than one tent per 700 acres and about one vehicle per 1,400 acres. This exclusive conservancy ensures the best possible game viewing in proper off-road safari vehicles away from other tourist vehicles and minibuses. During a 2 night stay here you can enjoy shared safari game drives with excellent guides in the Selenkay Conservancy, a full day game drive (with picnic lunch) in the Amboseli National Park to get close to the elephants and other wildlife, an escorted walk with Masai warriors to visit an authentic Masai village, as well as night safari game drives in the Selenkay Conservancy to seek out the nocturnal animals.

Day 3

After breakfast you will be driven back to Nairobi and onto Nairobi Tented Camp. Deep within a riverine forest, just minutes from Nairobi City, you will find a true wilderness experience. Nairobi Tented Camp offers a safari experience filled with sightings of giraffe, buffalo, zebra, eland, impala and other antelopes, as well as an excellent chance of seeing rhino (both black rhino and white rhino are present in the Park), lion and if you are very lucky, the elusive leopard.

Day 4

After breakfast you will be driven to your final safari camp in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, just north of the Masai Mara National Reserve. A large lion pride with over 20 males, females and cubs as well as several leopards have territories within the conservancy and are often sighted by guests on evening or early morning drives. Cheetahs are frequently seen and it is not rare to come across large numbers of giraffe as well as Cape buffalo and elephants. This is also a great location from which to observe the Great Wildebeest Migration (generally July to October).

Day 6

After breakfast you will be driven back to Nairobi and dropped at Jomo Kenyatta Airport where you will check in for your flight across to the coast.

Kenya Airways KQ610 (Economy Class): Fly from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) departing at 17:00 to Moi International Airport (MBA), arriving at 18:00

You will be met and transferred to your beach hotel.

Guests arriving at Serena Beach Resort will find an oasis of tranquillity framed by whispering coconut palms, lush gardens and one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches on the Indian Ocean. Come and discover a whole new level of relaxation and comfort at this tropical beach paradise.

Day 11

You will need to check out of your room this morning but you can remain at the hotel and use all the facilities until you are collected for your transfer back to the airport. Alternatively, if you have an evening flight, the hotel may be able to arrange a late check out for you (additional cost and payable directly to the hotel) subject to the availability of the room.
