Le Repaire
La Digue
Days 4 - 6: La Digue
The beauty of the Seychelles is that each and every island is so diverse. If you’re looking for a laid-back break from reality, you cannot do better than La Digue - the 4th largest island in Seychelles but one of the most unspoilt. It has a unique charm, stunning scenery, and is island lifestyle at its best.
Anse Source d’Argent is amongst the most photographed beaches in the world. Here, you’ll find pale pink granite boulders studded across silken powdery sands, with a clear ocean ahead of you and the untamed jungle behind. Anse Patates, the island's northern most point, is superb for snorkelling.
The locals are friendly, the main mode of transport is bicycle or ox cart but the island is small enough to get around on foot. The Creole cuisine is a mouth-watering fusion of Indian, African and European flavours.
It only takes 15 minutes to cross to La Digue from Praslin, but it will feel as though you’ve entered an entirely different world.
Le Repaire Boutique Hotel is a small beachfront hotel situated near the centre of the main village on La Digue, so the hotel is within easy walking distance of the jetty, shops and banks.
Although this is a beachfront property, there are two small swimming pools, so guests can choose to either lounge on the beach or around the pools in the shade of the tropical takamaka trees. For the more active, you can go kayaking, diving, snorkelling, fishing, or hire a bicycle to explore around the island.
Le Repaire has its own Italian restaurant, which faces the lush tropcial gardens and the sea, and serves light lunches and dinner.
The hotel has 18 rooms - each offering guests the same high level of comfort. The 7 Standard Rooms do not have direct views of the sea but look out over the gardens. There are 5 Superior Sea View Rooms, decorated in tranquil creams and greens and furnished with local hardwood furniture. The 6 Superior Beachfront Rooms are closest to the beach.
