Okavango Delta

Days 1 - 2: Okavango Delta

AndBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp Location Map

Unobtrusive and constructed to "float" in its secluded location in the clear waters, AndBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is superbly located for a water-based safari experience, and to explore the fascinating and fragile Okavango ecosystem.

It is the only camp in a 25,000 hectare concession and is reachable by boat only during the high water season. The intimacy of the camp and its 'out there' location make the lodge ideal for spending quality time with close family.

The main lodge area is thoughtfully designed to host delicious bush meals and to take advantage of the riverine surrounds, the papyrus reed beds, water lilies and the groves of wild date palms.

The channels, lagoons and islands of the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland water system, support an incredible selection of wildlife and bird species. Game viewing excursions led by skilled and knowledgeable guides are either by mokoro and boat in the high water season (from May to September), or in 4x4 vehicles out onto the savanna grasslands and bigger islands in the dry season.

The camp has 9 sleek tented suites, all of which are decorated to be airy, light and bright. Tents are made out of canvas and bleached wood to echo the shimmering watery surrounds.

The suites have en-suite bathrooms with luxuriant baths as well as indoor and al fresco showers and large private plunge pools. A romantic sala on your private deck provides a contemplative space with a view to either read a book, nap or listen to the birdlife in paradise.

Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children aged 16 years and older can participate in guided walks and mokoro excursions. Guests over 60 years old wishing to join a guided walk are required to have a letter or certificate from their doctor confirming they are in good health and are physically fit to do the walk. A  guided walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.

Regardless of age or the provision of a doctors certificate, the final decision on whether a guest can join a guided walk remains with the guide and lodge manager.
