Royal Chundu

Victoria Falls - Zambia

Days 1 - 2: Victoria Falls - Zambia

Royal Chundu Location Map

Royal Chundu (meaning 'The Meeting Place of the Chief') is a destination of absolute solitude and unspoiled beauty, as well as being the first Relais & Chateaux property in Zambia. The lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, just upstream from the magnificent Victoria Falls on a 15 km stretch of private waterway which is protected by 2 sets of rapids.

Royal Chundu was created in complete harmony with its natural surroundings and embraces the tradition and geography of the area while incorporating stylish and sophisticated accommodation, world class service and sumptuous pan-African cuisine.

There's something for everyone when it comes to activities at Royal Chundu. Whether you're looking for something adventurous or for a more gentle pursuit, the lodge will help you make the most of your time here on the Zambezi. Relax in comfort at the lodge, be pampered with treatments at the Spa, experience the local culture on a village tour, canoe down the Zambezi, see the lunar rainbow at full moon or enjoy a tiger fishing expedition.

A number of activities are available at Royal Chundu itself while several, such as bungee jumping and white water rafting, are available off site. The lodge also offers excursions to the surrounding areas including a day trip to Victoria Falls or a visit to Chobe National Park. Everything can be arranged bespoke to suit you.

The accommodation offered here is in 14 beautiful suites and villas. Of these, 10 spacious suites are situated on the banks of the Zambezi at River Lodge, and 4 magnificent villas are situated at the exclusive Island Lodge, on the private Katambora island, 4 kilometres upstream from River Lodge. The suites and villas are all exquisitely decorated, reflecting a bygone era of comfort in the wild. The 'Out of Africa' experience is completed by your own private deck facing the magnificent Zambezi River.

The Royal Chundu Spa is located at River Lodge, but most guests prefer to have their treatments in their own suite, on the deck overlooking the Zambezi River.
