The Lowveld area around Highgrove House is beautiful, and there are several attractions worthy of a visit, including God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavals, and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve.

The highly promoted 'Panorama Route' is a self-drive route, which takes in many of the scenic sights en-route.

There is a choice of 8 luxury suites, each with their own comfortable sitting room area with a wonderful open log fireplace.

Each suite has its own private patio, which offers stunning views over the Lowveld. Meals can be served here at your request.

2 of the suites also have a private plunge pool in a secluded private garden, plus an outside shower, sauna and fully-stocked mini bar.

From Nelspruit/Mbombela: Take R40 North to White River/Witrivier (passing straight through Rocky Drift). In White River, at the first set of traffic lights in the town itself (with White River Toyota ahead of you on the left), turn left, following signs to Hazyview and Wildtuin/Kruger National Park. At the next lights, turn right - with the playing fields on your left and, further on, an open park with a pond on your right. Cross over the next set of lights and then at the final set, with a Caltex garage on your right, turn left on the R40 for Hazyview, signposted to Phalaborwa (the R538 to Hazyview via the Numbi Gate is a slow, busy, potholed road and not recommended.) Continue on the R40. After approximately 30 km, you will see Highgrove House signposted off to the right. Go through the entrance gates, and follow the track along until you come to the main car parking area.

From KMIA Kruger Nelspruit Airport: Turn right out of the airport in the direction of White River/Witrivier on the R538. Continue on this road for 12 km (there is a quick left and immediately right turn at the Plaston intersection – do not turn right to Kabokweni!) to the first set of traffic lights in White River, with the mosque on your left. Turn right and travel towards Hazyview on the R40 (signposted Phalaborwa). You will see Highgrove House signposted off to the right. Go through the entrance gates, and follow the track along until you come to the main car parking area.

From Skukuza/Paul Kruger Gate: Follow signs from the camp or the airport to the Paul Kruger Gate (about 12km). Travel through the gate and continue on the R536 to Hazyview. After crossing the North Sand River (some 50 km from the Gate), go straight across the first 4-way stop and straight across the next 2 stop streets. Continue over the roundabout to the traffic lights. Turn left in the direction of White River on the R40. Follow this road through Hazyview until you come to signpost and a road off to the right towards Nelspruit/R40. Turn right onto the R40, and continue along this road until you see Highgrove House signposted off to the left.

From Hoedspruit / Eastgate Airport: Take the R40 southwards towards Hazyview, turning left at Klaserie to stay on the R40. Be especially cautious about speeding on this road. Pass through the towns of Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge and Marite, following signs to White River and Hazyview. Follow this road through Hazyview until you come to signpost and a road off to the right towards Nelspruit/R40. Turn right onto the R40, and continue along this road until you see Highgrove House signposted off to the left.

From Johannesburg/Pretoria: Take N12 or N4 Highway respectively to Witbank/eMalahleni (from Johannesburg’s O.R.Tambo Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12) and then follow N4 Highway through Belfast and Machadodorp. After the Machado Toll Plaza follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 towards Nelspruit (lunch at Old Joe’s Kaia is recommended). Turn left where you rejoin the main N4 at Montrose and continue towards Nelspruit/Mbombela. At Nelspruit/Mbombela, follow the Hazyview/White River R40 signs from the N4 and around two subsequent roundabouts until you meet the R40 alongside the Mercedes dealer. Turn left and follow instructions from Nelspruit/Mbombela above.

Rooms may normally be occupied from 2 pm on the day of arrival, and must please be vacated by 11 am on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.

The Executive Suites have a private entrance, a private veranda/garden/pool, a private sitting room with fireplace, tea/coffee making facilities and a Nespresso machine, a mini bar, TV, complimentary sherry decanter, a pillow menu, air-conditioning, overhead fan, room safe, and an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, shower, and a hair dryer. There is also an outdoor shower.

The restaurant at Highgrove House serves a signature 5 course table d'hote dinner menu.

The spa area offers a variety of treatments.

There is a very large swimming pool on the property for use by all guests.

Jabulani Safari is a luxury safari lodge located within the 15,000 hectare fenced Big 5 Kapama Private Game Reserve. The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, and large populations of giraffe, impala, blue wildebeest and kudu. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena and many smaller species. Bird-watching is most rewarding and more than 350 bird species have been recorded.

With a Relais & Chateau accreditation, the lodge is guaranteed to offer first class accommodation, cuisine, facilities and personalised service, and your dedicated Jabulani ranger will ensure that your safari experience is tailor-made to your personal preference, whether laid back and relaxed or filled with game viewing and other activities.

What sets this camp apart from others, however, is their herd of African elephants, which were rescued by the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. The devoted elephant carers share insightful stories of their life journeys with the Jabulani herd, whilst you have opportunity to respectfully observe the elephants during their daily routines - while they enjoy their midday swim, forage in the wild and return single file to their stables in the evenings.

The main lodge is built along the banks of a seasonal stream. An open plan dining room and lounge merge with the wooden deck which lies in the shade of gigantic leadwood trees - the ideal setting to enjoy an al fresco lunchc while overlooking the adjacent waterhole. An impressive suspension bridge connects the main areas with the suites. Pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the Jabulani cocktail bar and lounge.

Each of the 6 suites are luxuriously furnished and feature a traditional fireplace, a grand freestanding stone bath, heated plunge pool and a semi-outdoor shower with a view over the African bush.

The Zindoga Villa comprises of 2 luxury suites, ideal for small groups and families with children of all ages. One of the suites also has an adjoining small twin room, with private bathroom, ideal for 2 children sharing. The villa is sold as an exclusive unit, and a dedicated chef and team of staff will ensure that the party enjoys their safari experience in optimum comfort and luxury.

From Hazyview: Follow the R40 towards Klaserie. Continue straight on the R40 and go past Bosbokrand and Acornhoek, and continue towards Klaserie. Approximately 1 km before Klaserie, take the turn-off to the right signposted Hoedspruit. Please contact the camp at this point on +27 (0) 74 137 3286 OR +27 (0) 82 922 0120 in order for them to meet you at the gate.

Continue past the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre for approximately 10 km. You will reach the entrance signposted Kapama Private Game Reserve on your right. Report to the gate, where you will be met by your ranger and transferred to the camp.

From Johannesburg/Pretoria: Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank/eMalahleni (from Johannesburg Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12). Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast and Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg/Mashishing.

Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad, go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie/Bushbuck Ridge/White River. Please contact the camp at this point on +27 (0) 74 137 3286 OR +27 (0) 82 922 0120 in order for them to meet you at the gate.

Continue on the R40 for 10 km and you will reach the entrance signposted Kapama Private Game Reserve on your left. i gate is reached on the left. Report to the gate, where you will be met by your ranger and transferred to the camp.

PLEASE NOTE : On some signposts/maps, Belfast MAY also be referred to eMakhazeni.

Check In / Check Out

Rooms may be occupied from 14:00 on the day of arrival. If possible, aim to arrive at the lodge around this time, so you can check into your room and relax before your first afternoon game drive, but if you don't think you can arrive by this time, you should aim to arrive by 15:00 at the very latest, or else you may miss the afternoon drive.

Rooms must please be vacated by 10:30 on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.

General Information For Guests

Children of any age are welcome.

Suites are equipped with a mini-bar, safe, hair dryer and electric blankets. Comfort is ensured by the 24 hour temperature control and overhead ceiling fan. All suites have a private deck and plunge pool. Each of the suites at Camp Jabulani also has a direct-dial telephone with international coverage. Calls are charged for per minute - the total cost is added to the extras bill payable on departure.

Cellular reception is limited and not of a very good quality.

The camp has Wi-Fi connectivity.

The tap water in the camp is purified to the highest standards and is perfectly safe to drink. Ample stocks of still and sparkling mineral water are also available

All major credit cards are accepted as a valid form of payment at Camp Jabulani for any additional extras you may wish to purchase during your stay here.

There is a bush gymnasium (an open-air fitness area with a variety of weights, a treadmill, an exercise bike and an exercise mat) and an open-air bush spa offering a range of treatments.

The Elephant Experience includes observing the herd in close proximity, learning more about their behavior, unique character traits, their incredible story and what it takes to take care of them. Much of this takes place while the elephants are in their natural environment, foraging in the bush, walking through the reserve or swimming at the waterhole.

Jabulani Safari guests have the opportunity to visit the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre during their stay, or to participate on a full day exclusive hands-on interactive experience at the facility in the Pioneer for Change Programme. Further details on request.

The camp requests that guests do not wear shorts for dinner in the evenings.

The camp does not have the capacity to handle large loads of laundry. Large laundry loads (in excess of 10 items per person) will be sent to an external facility which stipulates a 72 hour turnaround time.

Your rate includes a Conservation Levy which goes towards the conservation efforts and the work of the Anti-Poaching Unit in their on-going wildlife protection efforts in Kapama Game Reserve and the surrounding area.

From Cape Town Airport: Upon exiting the airport continue towards the N2 highway and take the right-hand exit to Cape Town. Travel along the N2 towards Cape Town; when approaching Settlers Way keep to the right. Travel along Eastern Boulevard and keep to the right until you approach you first set of traffic light with Cape Town International Convention Centre on your left-hand side.

Turn right at the traffic lights (Coen Steytler) and cross over the next set of traffic lights into the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. At the first roundabout keep left. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit, follow the road until it bends to the right and then turn right into One&Only Cape Town.
