Old Joe's Kaia is a unique small family owned and run guesthouse situated in the magnificent Schoemanskloof Valley, making this a perfect stopover en route to Kruger National Park.
The Schoemanskloof Valley offers many beautiful hikes with various difficulty levels. Guests can walk up the mountain, over the swing bridge or simply along the river or in the garden.
The nearby Sudwala Caves are the oldest and also the largest dolomite caves in the southern hemisphere, and also includes a dinosaur park for children.
Old Joe's Kaia has always been well-known for its excellent cuisine and fabulous wines. The meals are creative yet wholesome with a country flair. Trout from the area is a regular feature, as well as venison and ostrich.
Meals can be enjoyed inside the cosy lounge-dining area or outside on the balcony at tree-top level.
The view from the balcony is graced by the mountain in the distance and the lush garden below.
Accommodation is offered in log cabins, rondavels and kaia rooms. Each of these units has a different theme and is uniquely decorated accordingly. All units have a balcony/verandah and en-suite bathroom.
The log cabins are elevated on stilts and situated amongst large trees, overlooking the indigenous garden. The rondavels are spacious with an authentic African feel. The kaia rooms ('home' in Zulu) are cosy semi-detached private units overlooking the garden towards the swimming pool.
