Mihingo Lodge

Lake Mburo National Park

Mihingo Lodge Location Map

Mihingo Lodge is a luxurious, family owned lodge in a magical setting adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. Perched high on a rocky kopje, whose pre-Cambrian granite boulders were formed over 500 million years ago, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape.  Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, this environmentally friendly lodge offers comfort, relaxation and the experience of being at one with nature.

An infinity pool overlooks the valley below where buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the waterhole.  On the rocks you may have the rare chance of seeing the resident family of klipspringers.  On a night game drive there is also a good chance you may see an elusive leopard. As Rungwe Kingdon (the son of the well-known wildlife author, Jonathan Kingdon, and one of Mihingo's guests) once quoted - "I have seen more leopards in Lake Mburo National Park than any other Park in East Africa".

A wide range of activities are on offer as well as game drives - nature walks are a magical way to experience the bush and allow you to notice smaller details often overlooked; a horse safari is an awesome way to see the wildlife around Mihingo Lodge; or if you don’t feel like spending any more time in a car and you’re are not too comfortable on a horse then hire one of the top of the range mountain bikes to explore the bush; visit a local village; relax with a massage treatment; watch bush babies in the evening from the platform below the bar; or take a boat trip on Lake Mburo are just some of the ways to pass your time here.

Mihingo Lodge has 12 luxury, tented rooms designed to provide guests with privacy and tranquillity. Each room has its own unique charm and character, whether it is nestled in forest, overlooking the lake, perched on a rocky outcrop or down by the water hole. Although no two rooms are the same, all the rooms offer stunning views and provide guests with a light and airy sanctuary and a feeling of being alone in the bush.

Each spacious canvas tent is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, hot and cold running water, a shower, and flush WC. The rooms have been sensitively designed to complement the local environment with great attention to detail - for example, the doorways are framed by stunning pieces of dead olive wood found on the land. As an environmentally friendly lodge all the lights are solar powered and each room has its own solar powered water heater.
