Situated at a peninsula on the mainland, just a 15 minute boat drive from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ilha de Mozambique, lies Coral Lodge, your perfect boutique-style get away.
The lodge comprises 10 villas, a culinary restaurant and a pool on top of the dunes overlooking the Indian Ocean. Ahead lies the Mangrove Forest and the 16th century fort of Ilha de Mozambique. The lodge offers snorkelling, dhow-sailing, canoeing, excursions to the local communities, African cooking classes and of course trips to nearby Ilha. During September and October whales migrate along the coast where Coral Lodge is situated and they can easely be spotted from the islands in front of the lodge.
The constant breeze from the Indian ocean is perfect for learning to windsurf or for taking one of the surfboards for a sail over the crystal blue waters. The lodge also has its own professional small dive centre. The reefs just off the coast offer easy as well as more strenuous diving spots. These reefs have hard and soft corals with many species of small fish, and are regularly visited by dolphins.
The 10 villas each include informal sitting areas, a bedroom, a bathroom and a large terrace. To fully compliment the exterior design of the villas, a blend of African and modern styles has been adopted for the furniture that decorates the interior of the villas. To keep it natural, the windows and shutters have been designed with maximum adjustability in mind so that a gentle breeze can always flow through the rooms.
