There's something undeniably special about Kuyenda. Set beneath shady trees by the Manzi River, it may look simple in its appearance but don't be fooled, the camp embodies the authentic charm of old Africa with its cluster of traditional thatched grass huts and back-to-nature feel.

As for the wildlife, you hardly need look for it as it will come to you. Settle down in the lounge and look out over the rippling grasses of the neighbouring plain where the drama of the African wilderness is played out each day.

Walking safaris are top of the activites list at Kuyenda. Whether you are looking at a leopard or a termite, with some of the South Luangwa's most diverse and breathtaking landscape situated around Kuyenda, you can guarantee that no 2 outings will ever be the same. To get even further afield, night game drives are also on offer.

Forget infinity pools and Wi-Fi - Kuyenda is the quintessential classic African bushcamp, lovingly rebuilt each season.The 5 rooms are cosy grass rondavels (circular hut) complete with paraffin lanterns, swathes of mosquito netting and an open-air en-suite bathroom with a large 'safari' drum shower. From the panoramic windows you can look out onto the surrounding plains and the incredible game that frequently saunters through camp, day and night.

Kuyenda is open from June to November.

Rates Include

All meals; tea/coffee; bar; Park fees; a laundry service; game viewing activities; inter-camp transfers; and transfers to/from Mfuwe Airport are included.

Children Policy

Children aged 12 years and older are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under 12 can only be accommodated if the whole camp is booked.


Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children under the age of 12 years are not permitted on guided walks. A guided walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.

Regardless of age, the final decision on whether a guest can join a guided walk remains with the guide and lodge manager.

General Information For Guests

The rooms are all en-suite with outside showers and each rondavel is well situated to offer complete privacy for all guests. Toiletries such as soap, shampoo, conditioner and skin moisturiser are supplied. Dressing gowns are also provided.

The main area consists of the bar, dining area, lounge and campfire area.

The activities available at Kuyenda include walking safaris, game drives (day and night) and birdwatching.

The camp offers a limited laundry service free of charge.

Limited battery charging is possible.

Yoga instructors are also available.

All guests will be met at Mfuwe International Airport and taken by vehicle to Mfuwe Lodge (45 minutes) for refreshments before travelling on to Kuyenda Bushcamp. The drive to camp will usually take just over 1 hour since it is at game viewing speed while driving through the South Luangwa National Park.
