Chamilandu Bushcamp

Chamilandu Bushcamp

South Luangwa National Park

Chamilandu Bushcamp Location Map

Chamilandu is a breathtaking camp on one of the South Luangwa’s prime river locations, perfect for a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife that the river and its lagoons attract. There are just 3 chalets at this exclusive-use camp, set on stilts beneath a soaring ebony grove. With capacity for just 6 guests, this is perfect for small groups.

Early morning views don't get much better than the rippling waters of the Luangwa River, the gentle rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky - especially when you're lying in a 4 poster bed in your stilted tree-house. You don't even need to leave your bed to see the wildlife - from your unique vantage point you can watch as animals roam across the landscape, or swing through the trees above your head.

Guests can enjoy a sundowner from the comfort of the thatched bar and dining area, as you watch the wildlife do the same at the river.

Walking safaris and game drives around Chamilandu explore the impressive range of habitats in the area. With no fewer than 7 oxbow lagoons behind camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking refreshment. The hide looks out over one of these lagoons and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing elephants.

Each chalet has its own raised veranda and an open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same magnificent views over the tranquil waters, and there's nothing quite like showering under the stars.

Chamilandu is open from June to November, and the exceptional game viewing and understated elegance truly make Chamilandu a place to remember.
