Carnarvon Dale
Situated in Frontier Country, Carnarvon Dale is an 1857 family farm on the banks of the Bushmans River. This historic Settler farmhouse once provided lodgings for travellers, whose journeys had been halted by the flooded river, until it was safe for them to cross.
It now forms part of the the 6,000 hectare Big 5 Amakhala Game Reserve, just 40 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth. Morning and evening game drives by experienced rangers through Amakhala Game Reserve in search of rhino, lion, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, and over 16 antelope species will also leave you in awe of the spectacular scenery which abounds here.
There is also a swimming pool for guests enjoyment.
Delicious farm-style meals are served in the main dining room.
In the evenings there are new friends to be made over cool sundowners and stories of bygone days to entertain you around a fire under South African stars.
The accommodation consists of a choice of en-suite serviced bedrooms with private lounges. A family suite is available on request.
Your hosts at Carnarvon Dale, Roger and Maryan Hart, will make your stay a memorable and enjoyable one.
All meals, wine with dinner, and 2 activities per day (game drives, river cruises, canoeing, guided walks or night drives) are included.
