Bush Lodge

Bush Lodge is situated in the 7,200 hectare Big 5 Amakhala Game Reserve. This beautifully designed lodge offers an intimate safari experience, and is situated right in the heart of the reserve at the top end of an open valley.

The reserve is divided by the N2 main highway, and the smaller section is home to the lions, who roam freely and enjoy a natural hunting habitat. Guests can go on morning and evening game drives in an open Land Rover in search of wildlife including not only lion, but rhino, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, and over 16 antelope species.

For a change of pace, enjoy bird watching and game spotting walks along the lazy Bushmans River, a cheese and wine boat cruise or a sundowners canoe safari.

In the evening, guests can enjoy award winning South African wines and local cuisine under a magnificent canopy of stars. The resident chef will treat you with gastronomic delights presented with African flair to end off the perfect day.

The lodge has just 5 suites, overlooking a watering point. Each suite has a thatched roof, with tented canvas sides, and an atmospheric fireplace. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have romantic double showers and a large oval bath, and all the rooms are air-conditioned.

Each suite also has its own secluded private viewing deck with an intimate plunge pool, making this a truly wonderful and luxurious bush retreat.
