Arusha Serena Hotel
Arusha
Day 1: Arusha
Nestled at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, the Arusha Serena Hotel stands amid coffee plantations overlooking the shores of the tranquil Lake Duluti. Designed to echo the traditional style of the colonial coffee farm, which originally stood on this site, the hotel offers a range of tastefully presented cottage-styled rooms set amid landscaped grounds.
The hotel features a stone-built reception with adjoining lounge, library, restaurant and boutique shop. Imposing in stature and spacious in concept, the design of the building echoes the hotel's original incarnation as a working coffee farm dating back to colonial times.
Both the bar and restaurant offer blazing log fires, lake and garden views, and an elegant yet relaxed ambience. The cuisine includes local and international dishes. Breakfasts and sundowners can also be arranged on the shores of Lake Duluti.
Guests can enjoy a broad range of activities at an additional cost, which include massage treatments, guided walking trails, mountain biking, and canoeing on the lake. If you have time to explore Arusha itself, the hotel can arrange a trip for you. The streets here jostle with safari vehicles, market traders, and Masai warriors in traditional dress. Curio markets offer the opportunity to buy good quality crafts and gifts at reasonable prices.
The rooms and suites are presented in the style of stone-built cottages, which are grouped in clusters around a flower-filled central ‘village square'. Spacious and elegantly presented in classic country-house style, they feature marble bathrooms, leaded windows and double French doors giving way to garden and lake views, a stylish work or vanity area, and large comfortable beds. Interleading family rooms are available too and some rooms are spacious enough to have additional beds for children.
The hotel is approximately 20 km from Arusha and 40 km from Kilimanjaro Airport.

Relax to the rhythm of an African day as a myriad bird calls herald the rising sun. Stay close to the lodge and enjoy the resident wildlife, or go for a drive and explore the range of habitats that lie within easy reach.
